On Thursday the 4th of April Donovan was euthanized. He had developed cancer and was suffering.
We went to the vet to euthanize him. He checked out the entire room and then came and lay down on the blanket they had set for him. He laid down just right for the vet to reach the catheter to inject the anesthetic and the heart stopper. He didn't fight it at all like he would have if he were healthy. He just laid down and went to sleep. He passed without a sound or movement. It was easy and hard at the same time.
The techs were really gentle with him when they carried him out. I stayed for the entire occurrance.
Two weeks later I got his cremains and a footprint the crematory people had taken for me. Having them helps. It's a little bit of him to keep until I join him.
