The board of the condo complex "Hidden Pond" in Raritan, NJ, has a hidden agenda—to have 15 Canada geese killed&mdashossibly gassed—by Goose Control Technology, a Metuchen geese extermination company. According to its website, this company not only profits from killing geese, but it also employs an “accomplished trapper,” and offers, among other “services,” a hunting program for waterfowl.
Canada geese residing around the pond will be rounded up during their molting period when they cannot fly. Entirely helpless, they will be separated from their goslings, causing shock and panic among the parent geese and goslings, who frantically call their loved ones in a final futile attempt to find each other.
Instead, these highly intelligent birds, in a terrifying state of confusion and panic, will be either mercilessly thrown into a mobile gas chamber, left struggling for their lives over a long period of time while fighting for oxygen, or packed into crates and trucked to a slaughterhouse to be brutally killed.
We need you to speak up for Raritan’s geese!
Please tell the board of “Hidden Pond”, Jo-Ann Liptak, Raritan’s Mayor, and Elizabeth Horvath, the chairperson of the borough’s environmental commission, that we will not allow the senseless killing of Canada geese. Other communities have been prevented from killing resident geese as a result of a public outcry. We will do the same for the “Hidden Pond” condo complex should they decide to follow through with this horrible slaughter of innocent and helpless geese families.
