Maria sat on a bench in a local park. Barbeques were held as food and drinks were part of the atmosphere. Some of the guests had their portable radios playing at a low volume just for their table, as others used headphones to drown out the parks noise. Maria used her headphones after cooking her burger and hot dog. It was a warm 80 degrees but no humidity, so a fairly comfortable day with a slight June breeze from the nearby lake. She sipped on a beer from the cooler with ice she had brought with her. Mickey did the same only a table away from her. They held up their cans of beer and said "cheers", as their eyes met. Her radio went dead as the batteries had died. He noticed the look of frustration on her face as she took off her headphones. Mickey from previous experience learned to bring extra batteries for his radio. Hers happened to be the same size as his. With a beer in one hand and six double AA batteries in another, he made her smile. That was how they met that June afternoon. The rest of the summer they often went to that park as it felt a lot better being together as opposed to being alone. An outdoor wedding took place two years later. She brought some extra double AA batteries....Maybe radios eventually die as their batteries run out. Spare ones are brought which is used by another. And so the music continues....Case in point in a short love story about Maria and Mickey, where a new relationship was charged by extra double AA batteries......
