If I had to choose a "hero" in the world of political corruption today, I would have to say it is Michael Moore. Why? Because he isn’t afraid. He is not afraid to “dig for the truth” and get to the root of the problem. His work truthfully defines issues we face in our country daily. Sad thing is...we are not listening to Mr. Moore. We may view his work, but are we listening? I really don't think so.
FAHRENHEIT 911
Fahrenheit 911 is was one of Michael Moore’s most controversial and provocative films. It is Moore’s powerful look into the Bush administration's actions in the wake of the tragic events of 9/11. Moore’s commitment to uncovering the facts reveals, the presidency of George W. Bush and where it has led us.
Where, exactly has it led us? Take into consideration from the time our troops invaded Iraq, up until today…the only appearance of victory in the mind of Americans is the capture, trial, and death of Saddam Hussein.Which didn’t exactly stop Al Aqeda and the war in Iraq, and it sure as hell didn't capture the one man thought to be behind it all...Osama Bin Laden. Where the hell is he now, and why is it that we never hear much about him anymore? Did the real secret lie within Saddam? Could he have unlocked the door to who has the real key to Bin Laden? The way I see it, although inhumane, Saddam had control over his country. The people were afraid to go out into the streets and do what they are doing now, because they were afraid of Saddam. Now, hell is still breaking loose all over the place and there is no real leader to stop it. Our troops are in a foreign country trying to bridge the gap in a country where the foundation has fallen apart.
Moore looks at how and why Bush and his inner circle avoided pursuing the Saudi connection to 9/11, despite the fact that 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudis and Saudi money had funded Al Qaeda. Moore’s film sheds light where there is none. It lets us see whose hand was in the cookie jar of deceit and lies.
The documentary also shows us a nation kept in constant fear by FBI alerts, and takes us inside a war to tell the stories we haven't heard, illustrating the awful human cost to U.S. soldiers and their families. Some of you may think that Moore is an unpatriotic liberal, but to me, he is more of a patriotic hero than Bush will ever be. Moore brings debate to the table, on the other hand, Bush bring lies.
BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE
Another documentary the world needs to seriously view. Michael Moore's superb documentary, “Bowling for Columbine” tackles a disturbing subject that we all have had to come to grips with, which is, gun control. Moore, once again, digs deep into the inner core of the issue and lays an issue worth debating, on the table.
Why are we not listening to what this man has to say?
Are we, as Americans, so sure of ourselves and our country that we feel that no one can edit one chapter of the American Way of Life?
After viewing this documentary and seeing how big name movie stars like Charlton Heston, and Dick Clark, among a few, turned a deaf ear, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing and hearing. After viewing this documentary you cannot help but ask the question Moore is presenting…..“Why do Americans kill each other more often than people in any other democratic nation?”
It is a shame that in America, the mere mention of gun control scares the hell out of some people. Yet, we are forced to have to live with the tragedy of school shootings and other acts of violence when people with easy access to guns, decide that it is a good day to take a few innocent lives just for the hell of it.
I say to the people who “take the easy way out” by killing others first, before killing themselves, you are cowards. Cowards tend to die last because, in the end, if they don’t kill themselves, they face “optional” death.
I often tell people that television is what it sounds like….”tell…a….vision”, simply because it does tell a vision. And that is how I like to sum up what Michael Moore does in his documentaries….he tells visions.Moore sets up the stage, creates the plot, and gives you a provocative look inside reason. He tells it like it is and should be told. His work is riveting and encourages you to ask…Why?
