Please tell animal shelters in Arizona, Phoenix especially, that killing over 50 percent of pets surrendered to them is UNACCEPTABLE! The Arizona Humane Society and Maricopa County Care and Control are euthanizing between 50 and 60 percent of pets due to space limitations (even though the AHS's Campus for Compassion is huge!) and to supposedly save money.
Yet, the Arizona Humane Society raises millions of dollars a year to care for the animals. So tell me, where is this money going besides to pay the Executive director salary of over $100,000? There are many things both shelters can be doing to reduce the number of animals surrendered every day. Please go to Nathan Winograd's No Kill Advocacy Center for the online activist toolkit. If these shelters don't know we are angry, they will continue to kill these animals needlessly.
Write your comments on Facebook to each of these shelters, call them, email them, etc. Please spread the word to your friends. Together, we will win!
