4. WILDERNESS WATCH: oppose two anti-wilderness bills in congress: WHAT YOU CAN DO: Please contact your Representative and ask her or him to oppose these wilderness-damaging bills. Click on this link to enter your zip code and find your House member: http://www.house.gov/representatives/find/. Then click on the email or "envelope" icon under your representative's name to reach their email form. Email your member of Congress the following message (use your own words, or copy & paste)! Please also send the same email to the Democratic leaders of the Natural Resources Committee and its Public Lands and Environmental Regulation Subcommittee, Rep. Peter DeFazio and Rep. Raul Grijalva, respectively, at: http://democrats.naturalresources.house.gov/contact-us.
Please oppose the Yosemite Salvage Logging Bill, H.R. 3188, as well as the Commercial Filming Bill, H.R. 2798. Both bills would significantly harm Wilderness. The Yosemite logging bill waives all other federal laws like the National Environmental Policy Act and the Wilderness Act to require immediate logging in Yosemite and the Emigrant Wildernesses. The commercial filming bill would open Wildernesses and national parks to commercial filming in direct contradiction to the protections in the Wilderness Act, and is opposed by the Department of Interior. The bill could lead to additional commercialization ofpublic lands.
5.EARTH DEFENSE FUND: reject the oil and fracking leases on our federal wetlands: https://secure2.edf.org/site/Advocacy;jsessionid=D66983A22DD9E7A51CDC1447FD3098CF.app337b?cmd=display&page=UserAction&id=2197&autologin=true&utm_source=EDF%20action%20network&utm_medium=email-32443&utm_campaign=advocacy&link=callout_box_text1
