I am really offended by what Dayna Morales did. For those who don't know of her, she is the waitress who posted a receipt on social media, that contained a note stating that her customer would not tip her because they did not agree with her lifestyle. People were understandably outraged and rushed to send her money, compensating her for the lost tip. This would be a really nice story about people uniting to overcome hatred - if it were true. But unfortunately for her, the couple she served saw the story online and recognized the receipt. They were horrified. Why? Because they DID leave her a tip and they DIDNT leave a homophobic note. They produced a receipt for NBC news as well as a credit card statement, showing a generous twenty percent tip. They were upset that Morales was deceiving the community and scamming people out of thousands of dollars. Mostly they were upset that Morales was creating hate where there was none.
In my opinion, her actions set the LGBT movement back quite a bit. Why? Because the next time a hateful act like this occurs, no one will believe it. And that's a sorry state of affairs indeed. Ms Morales, you should be ashamed of what you did. You hurt your own community and for what? Some Internet infamy and unearned money?
