Let's give all Mothers all over the world - particularly Mothers of U.S. and allied troops, and especially all Iraqi Mothers - a great big Mothers Day present.

BRING THE TROOPS HOME FROM IRAQ!!!

We have all petitioned, sent letters and e-mails, demonstrated -- even and especially, people outside of the U.S. THANK YOU! And KEEP DOING IT!

However, that has proved to be NOT ENOUGH.

Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, in a TV interview the other day, indicated that THE WAR COULD GO ON FOREVER; THE ILLEGAL AND IMMORAL OCCUPATION OF IRAQ, IS INTENDED TO LAST FOREVER. No matter HOW the mis-Adminstration hems and haws and dances around the subject, THAT IS WHAT THEY REALLY, IN THE END, MEAN -- even if they can't SAY that, directly.
The mis-Administration will actually, keep on EXTENDING, and EXTENDING, and EXTENDING troops' deployments -- for the foreseeable future, for our LIFETIMES if they steal another Election and get re-elected by fair means or foul!!!

Congress says they are doing their best! Congress was elected in 2006 with a CLEAR MANDATE TO STOP THE WAR. Evidently they can't or won't TRY hard enough; or their hands are tied. AND THIS COUNTRY IS NO LONGER A DEMOCRACY REFLECTING THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE.

Shall we sit on our backsides? wait and "hope for the best"? Hope hope hope hope hope????? Shall we wait for the next election? and the next? and the next? and the......?

There are
TWO THINGS WE CAN ALL, EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US, DO NOW THIS MOTHERS DAY TO BRING THE TROOPS HOME, HOME TO THEIR MOTHERS AND FAMILIES, HOME TO PEACE WHILE THEY ARE STILL ALIVE AND UN-MAIMED.

YES, WE CAN END THE WAR ON OUR TIMETABLE, NOT ON BUSH'S PHONEY "TIMETABLE"! SI SE PUEDES! YES WE CAN!!!!!

The two things are:
1] The troops must THEMSELVES REFUSE to fight in this war any longer. There have been NOTABLE INDIVIDUALS who have done this: to mention only ONE, Lt. Ehren Watada, who deserves all of our support for his trial and court-martial hearing in a few weeks.
But, that has not been enough. WHOLE UNITS must revolt, disobey direct orders, lay down their weapons, REFUSE TO DEPLOY TO IRAQ. There is NO glory, NO Honor for being DUPES of Media LYING! And we the Civilians, communities and friends and family members, MUST SHOW VERY AUDIBLY AND VISIBLY, OUR UNQUALIFIED SUPPORT FOR THEIR REFUSAL.

2] First that CRIMINAL MASTER-MIND, DICK CHENEY, MUST BE IMPEACHED: THEN BUSH MUST BE IMPEACHED ALSO. THAT will bring the War and Occupation to a screeching halt, if and when Nancy Pelosi, Democratic Speaker of the House of Representatives and next in line, becomes THE FIRST WOMAN PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. {Speaker Pelosi is not very big on Impeachment NOW; but she wouldn't turn down the Presidency if it was offered her!}

Below, there is a "DO-IT-YOURSELF" Impeachment Kit, for Americans.
GO, AMERICANS, GO!!! What have you to lose, "You have nothing to lose but your chains"!

What can a non-American citizen do? Well, plenty.
HELP US, PLEASE!

If there are American bases and Embassies in your country, PROTEST AT THEM. And ask that the American bases be CLOSED, THROWN OUT.
As the People are protesting now in Vicenza, Italy. Did you know, that America has MORE FOREIGN BASES THAN FOREIGN EMBASSIES ABROAD??? Seven hundred and something. DISGUSTING! And, Americans are BUILDING SEVERAL PERMANENT BASES IN IRAQ. Gives the LIE, doesn't it, to "We are going to leave sometime.......... whenever........."!!!

If there are American bases in your country, and there probably are, TRY TO GET IN CONTACT WITH AMERICAN SOLDIERS WHEN THEY LEAVE THE BASE. Are there G.I. coffeeshops, or social events to which American troops would come? Can you arrange for any? LEAFLET, or put up POSTERS or GRAFFITI. {Legally, or ILLEGALLY, as I and my friends do here!} Talk face-to-face with the troops if you possibly can, or thru the Internet, in demos, broadcasts, etc. etc.

THERE IS ALREADY A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF RESISTANCE WITHIN THE AMERICAN ARMY, AS THERE WAS DURING THE VIET NAM WAR. I CAN PERSONALLY VOUCH FOR THAT {but I am not going to give anything away! But some of my sources are Public ones, such as War Cry newspaper [Grito de Guerra], Vietnam Veterans Against the War Anti-Imperialist [VVAWAI], and Iraq Veterans Against the War}. But there is a CURTAIN OF MILITARY CENSORSHIP that will have to be breached!

We, you and I, need to BUILD ON THE RESISTANCE THAT IS ALREADY THERE, AND ENCOURAGE IT, AND SUPPORT IT IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE.

[Of course, the FAMILIES AND FRIENDS of the troops, are BEST placed to BREACH THAT MILITARY CENSORSHIP. So, if one is in a position to TALK TO FAMILY MEMBERS AND FRIENDS of the troops......]

[All of the above goes of course for British, Canadian, any other troops deployed to Iraq as well.]

THESE ARE ACTIONS THAT EVERY RECIPIENT OF THIS MOTHERS DAY MESSAGE, CAN START TO TAKE.
AND PASS ON, AND INFLUENCE OTHERS TO TAKE. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU. THE PEOPLE OF THE WORLD ARE COUNTING ON YOU.
PLEASE!

I HAVE BEEN CALLED A TRAITOR, SUBVERSIVE, AND WORSE.
WELL, IN THE WORDS OF THAT GREAT AMERICAN PATRIOT, PATRICK HENRY:

"IF THIS BE TREASON,
MAKE THE MOST OF IT!"

Love & Peace & all that good stuff;
BMutiny you know what it means by now T

WHAT YOU DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THE ENDING OF WWI - IT WAS ENDED BY MUTINY
It is widely known that revolution ended the war on the Eastern Front, but western historians minimize -- though they can't fully deny -- the fact that the war in the west ended because of revolt and mutiny in Germany and portions of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

The situation in Germany was worsening. Industrial output was nearly half what it was at the start of the war. Six million Germans had died. The great victory in the East gave way to hunger and rebellion at home. When the German General Staff decided upon a suicidal attack against the British Navy in October 1918, a spike in desertions led to a full-scale revolt, the famous Kiel Mutiny.

... many sailors took unauthorised leave or refused to accept orders to put to sea on 30 October 1918. High Seas Fleet commander Hipper realised that the planned operation could not be executed in such circumstances. The plan was consequently abandoned.
This did not however bring an end to naval unrest.... Workers' and sailors' councils were formed, actions which soon spread to industrial workers at Kiel....

Demands were formulated requiring both immediate peace and reform. The call was taken up and spread across Germany within the space of a week with revolts in Hamburg, Bremen and Lubeck on 4-5 November and in Munich on 7-8 November.

Such was the air of widespread discontent that a group of parliamentary socialists led by Philipp Scheidemann proclaimed the onset of revolution on 9 November, an action which finally sealed the fate of both the Kaiser and the war's closure.
=========================================
WOW, OFFICIAL HISTORIANS ON ALL SIDES, REALLY DON'T LIKE IT WHEN THE DUMB "COMMON PEOPLE" TAKE THINGS INTO THEIR OWN HANDS IN SUCH WEIGHTY MATTERS AS WAR & PEACE. {Best left to the Professionals, of course, who don't have to bleed, so they can be "objective" about the whole thing!}

WWI RUSSIAN SOLDIERS "VOTE WITH THEIR FEET" TO LEAVE FIGHTING

By the beginning of 1917 the Russian army was falling apart because of the inadequacy of its weapons and supplies and a succession of losses at the front. Many soldiers had lost confidence not only in the ruling Romanov dynasty but also in the cause of the war itself. But replacing the tsar with the Provisional Government headed by Kerensky did not remedy the situation once Kerensky pledged to keep Russia in the war. When he ordered another offensive in the summer of 1917, Russian soldiers streamed home from the front [HA!] and joined antiwar demonstrations that were skillfully exploited by the Bolshevik Party, which ousted Kerensky in October in a second revolution.

THE HORRIFYING CARNAGE OF WWI was ended MUCH SOONER THAN THE POLITICIANS ON ALL SIDES PLANNED ON ENDING IT, by ordinary people such as you and me and OUR TROOPS IN IRAQ, taking matters into their OWN hands and REFUSING TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SLAUGHTER ANY MORE! Never forget this.

MUTINY BY THE TROOPS OF ALEXANDER THE GREAT, EVEN, CHANGES HISTORY, ENDS INVASION OF INDIA!!!

Mutiny at the Hyphasis {River}In the Summer of 326, Alexander's men refused to join their king in his attempt to reach the Ganges valley. An officer named Coenus spoke on behalf of the soldiers. The mutiny is described by the Greek author Arrian of Nicomedia in his Anabasis 5.28.1-29.1.

This is shown in the recent film, "Alexander".
When his Madedonian troops, away from home too long, REFUSED TO DEPLOY, REFUSED TO CROSS THE HYPHASIS RIVER, Alexander wisely BUILT 12 ALTARS "DECLARING VICTORY", and TURNED AROUND FOR HOME!
Not even Alexander the Great, could stand up to such People Power!!!

UNIVERSAL SOLDIER
Buffy Sainte-Marie

I wrote "Universal Soldier" in the basement of The Purple Onion coffee house in Toronto in the early sixties. It's about individual responsibility for war and how the old feudal thinking kills us all.

He's five feet two and he's six feet four
He fights with missiles and with spears
He's all of 31 and he's only 17
He's been a soldier for a thousand years

He's a Catholic, a Hindu, an atheist, a Jain,
a Buddhist and a Baptist and a Jew
and he knows he shouldn't kill
and he knows he always will
kill you for me my friend and me for you

And he's fighting for Canada,
he's fighting for France,
he's fighting for the USA,
and he's fighting for the Russians
and he's fighting for Japan,
and he thinks we'll put an end to war this way

And he's fighting for Democracy
and fighting for the Reds
He says it's for the peace of all
He's the one who must decide
who's to live and who's to die
and he never sees the writing on the walls

But without him how would Hitler have
condemned him at Dachau
Without him Caesar would have stood alone
He's the one who gives his body
as a weapon to a war
and without him all this killing can't go on

He's the universal soldier and he
really is to blame
His orders come from far away no more
They come from him, and you, and me
and brothers can't you see
this is not the way we put an end to war.

When it comes to genocide which has risen sharply for decades, I draw the line for sending in troops, like Danfur. As for impeachment, add war crimes, and get Harper bushite, bilderberg"er out with them PLEASE

WELL THE 1st world war, they were fighting each other through royal cousins, which didn't make alot of sense to many of the troops, use to have a share on it, unfortunatley deleted. As for germany, the 1st world war help to set up the conditions for the 2nd, and people got snowed in and fear, later many started backing out or trying to and it was too late. The world is responsible for Hitler, not just germans or austrians, we allowed the breeding ground for such to arise to power, just like is happening now.

I used to go to the Purple Onion and the Riverboat on Yorkville (yeah I'm an old hippie and was in peaceful protests then, was our small Haight Ashbury), and posted prior re Donavan and her and this song, and noted others.

I was thinking today, the origins of mother's day, traditions change, however the grounds for the creation of mothers days, being wars and stopping them, has not.

Baghdad Burning,... I'll meet you 'round the bend my friend, where hearts can heal and souls can mend...Thursday, April 26, 2007.The Great Wall of Segregation...…Which is the wall the current Iraqi government is building (with the support and guidance of the Americans). It's a wall that is intended to separate and isolate what is now considered the largest 'Sunni' area in Baghdad- let no one say the Americans are not building anything. According to plans the Iraqi puppets and Americans cooked up, it will 'protect' A'adhamiya, a residential/mercantile area that the current Iraqi government and their death squads couldn't empty of Sunnis.

The wall, of course, will protect no one. I sometimes wonder if this is how the concentration camps began in Europe. The Nazi government probably said, "Oh look- we're just going to protect the Jews with this little wall here- it will be difficult for people to get into their special area to hurt them!" And yet, it will also be difficult to get out.

The Wall is the latest effort to further break Iraqi society apart. Promoting and supporting civil war isn't enough, apparently- Iraqis have generally proven to be more tenacious and tolerant than their mullahs, ayatollahs, and Vichy leaders. It's time for America to physically divide and conquer- like Berlin before the wall came down or Palestine today. This way, they can continue chasing Sunnis out of "Shia areas" and Shia out of "Sunni areas".

I always hear the Iraqi pro-war crowd interviewed on television from foreign capitals (they can only appear on television from the safety of foreign capitals because I defy anyone to be publicly pro-war in Iraq). They refuse to believe that their religiously inclined, sectarian political parties fueled this whole Sunni/Shia conflict. They refuse to acknowledge that this situation is a direct result of the war and occupation. They go on and on about Iraq's history and how Sunnis and Shia were always in conflict and I hate that. I hate that a handful of expats who haven't been to the country in decades pretend to know more about it than people actually living there.

I remember Baghdad before the war- one could live anywhere. We didn't know what our neighbors were- we didn't care. No one asked about religion or sect. No one bothered with what was considered a trivial topic: are you Sunni or Shia? You only asked something like that if you were uncouth and backward. Our lives revolve around it now. Our existence depends on hiding it or highlighting it- depending on the group of masked men who stop you or raid your home in the middle of the night.

On a personal note, we've finally decided to leave. I guess I've known we would be leaving for a while now. We discussed it as a family dozens of times. At first, someone would suggest it tentatively because, it was just a preposterous idea- leaving ones home and extended family- leaving ones country- and to what? To where?

Since last summer, we had been discussing it more and more. It was only a matter of time before what began as a suggestion- a last case scenario- soon took on solidity and developed into a plan. For the last couple of months, it has only been a matter of logistics. Plane or car? Jordan or Syria? Will we all leave together as a family? Or will it be only my brother and I at first?

After Jordan or Syria- where then? Obviously, either of those countries is going to be a transit to something else. They are both overflowing with Iraqi refugees, and every single Iraqi living in either country is complaining of the fact that work is difficult to come by, and getting a residency is even more difficult. There is also the little problem of being turned back at the border. Thousands of Iraqis aren't being let into Syria or Jordan- and there are no definite criteria for entry, the decision is based on the whim of the border patrol guard checking your passport.

An airplane isn't necessarily safer, as the trip to Baghdad International Airport is in itself risky and travelers are just as likely to be refused permission to enter the country (Syria and Jordan) if they arrive by airplane. And if you're wondering why Syria or Jordan, because they are the only two countries that will let Iraqis in without a visa. Following up visa issues with the few functioning embassies or consulates in Baghdad is next to impossible.

So we've been busy. Busy trying to decide what part of our lives to leave behind. Which memories are dispensable? We, like many Iraqis, are not the classic refugees- the ones with only the clothes on their backs and no choice. We are choosing to leave because the other option is simply a continuation of what has been one long nightmare- stay and wait and try to survive.

On the one hand, I know that leaving the country and starting a new life somewhere else- as yet unknown- is such a huge thing that it should dwarf every trivial concern. The funny thing is that it’s the trivial that seems to occupy our lives. We discuss whether to take photo albums or leave them behind. Can I bring along a stuffed animal I've had since the age of four? Is there room for E.'s guitar? What clothes do we take? Summer clothes? The winter clothes too? What about my books? What about the CDs, the baby pictures?

The problem is that we don't even know if we'll ever see this stuff again. We don't know if whatever we leave, including the house, will be available when and if we come back. There are moments when the injustice of having to leave your country, simply because an imbecile got it into his head to invade it, is overwhelming. It is unfair that in order to survive and live normally, we have to leave our home and what remains of family and friends… And to what?

It's difficult to decide which is more frightening- car bombs and militias, or having to leave everything you know and love, to some unspecified place for a future where nothing is certain.
