URGENT: STOP THE MASS-SLAUGHTER OF ANIMALS IN SERBIA

Strays, mostly dogs are tortured, maimed, and brought to animal dumping grounds (each town has one) and they are thrown away packed in boxes or metal crates. Many are stuffed in plastic bags while still alive and are left to die an agonizing death! They plan on doing more mass-killings of animals and URGENT HELP IS NEEDED TO PUT A STOP TO THIS! We need petitions signed and letters sent to help stop the most disgusting, inhumane treatment of animals in Serbia.

- Tell Serbia that they should be ashamed of themselves for their cruelty. According to the campaign site, this practice of mass-murdering animals is against the law; however, the government chooses to ignore and implement these barbaric acts and paid for by the Serbian people’s tax dollars. 

-Let them know that the international community is now aware of their government’s disgusting acts and will expose them further by spreading the word far and wide.

-We will pressure our own government officials to stop any aid to Serbia and will remain persistent until they stop their cruel practice.

Dear Nadia and Thunderwolf,

I just wanted to let you know that I worked on addressing this important issue and wrote a letter to the government officials and the press. Here is a facsimile of my letter, which I edited as appropriate;

This letter is to appeal to you to implement a program for the humane handling of dogs. Human beings are by design intelligent problem-solvers. Surely this ability can be applied to a compassionate way to handle the problem of over-population and stray dogs in your country besides the mass extermination that is encouraged for the people to do often in very cruel and inhumane ways such as poisoning,suffocation in plastic bags, hanging, burying alive and so forth. This is not an acceptable way to handle this problem, and I encourage you to develop and implement a humane program that calls for birth control, vaccination programs, shelters and placement programs for dogs. Dogs were domesticated by human beings and are our friends. Is mistreating them, abandoning them to the streets and then killing them a responsible thing for us to do? We must be accountable and live up to our responsibility to address their needs in a humane and compassionate manner. Please
implement the demands in petition , http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/serbia-suffering that calls for;

·Establish a policy of birth control, i.e. draw up a budget with the aim of:
· Organizing and funding a Europe-wide trap, neuter , release and vaccination program for Europe’s millions of stray animals;
· Constructing shelters which conform to the norms in place within the EU;
· Subsidizing these shelters to ensure that the animals are comfortably housed, fed and treated in time;
· Financing the post of a shelter director for each shelter and ensure that his role is carried out to a minimum Europe wide standard.
