In 2003, I developed a severe allergy to soy (the anaphylactic shock type) and spent 4 days in the ICU.  Doctors said it was food poisoning. So, I decided to write "The Hidden Dangers of Soy."

In the book I share my personal experiences with you about how soy nearly killed me and how my soy-free life has improved my overall health and well being

I believe the time has come for all of us to ban together to make real changes in the food manufacturing industry. The health of the nation may depend on the answers. We already see that the FDA & USDA are incompetent.  I know all of you are just as concerned as I am with the safety of our food products, especially when there have been pet recalls and food alerts these days!

The fact of the matter is, soy is in practically everything and it's just a cheap filler - and because it's not fermented the same way as it is in Asia, the soy toxins are left in. There are many ingredients that you need to learn about because the label won't always say soybean oil, etc...It's in vegetable oils, natural flavorings, just to name a few. Would you believe that canned tuna has soy in it?  Why would you need it in that?

Not only that, but I learned that infant soy formula is the worst! You are better off with rice milk. You can read more about it in my book.

 I never had a weight problem, always ate everything in moderation, played racquetball 3 times a week, and so uncomfortable for eight years! My weight climbed from 118lbs to 150lbs!

Doctors say it's menopause and to increase my soy intake.  I had soy protein drinks for breakfast, soy protien bars for a snack, and what landed me in the hospital was a soy burger!  My body had enough. Good thing too, because I could have ended up with hypothyroidism.

When you read my story and the research that went into creating the book, you'll be amazed as what you learn.  There is a chapter with soy-free recipes too.

I will also share what the soybean industry is not telling you because it's not the "miracle" food it's cracked up to be.

What I find interesting is that scientists recommend that vegans increase their vitamin C, Magnesium, and zinc because they agree that soy does deplete vitamins and minerals. Interesting!

I think you are trying to sel a book so you do not care about the truth. Soy is not in just about everything. And just because you "believe" it causes obesity does not mean it does. Do you have any medical research on this? No. Just because you choose to overet and overeat soy products and cheap versions of them at that does not make soy products nor the soy industry responsible for your bad choices.

I have to say that I have been drinking soy milk, eating tofu and so on for years and I have not had any problem from it. No poisoning and no excessive weight gain. A bunch of my friends eat it to and I never heard of any of them being taken to a hospital from it either. I wonder a few things. Is it possible you just over did it with the soy? To much of anything can be bad for you. Maybe you have some particular allergy that most don't? Also just because something is soy doesn't mean it's organic soy. Is it possibly you got a hold of something that had pesticide used on it? I'm not criticizing because I don't know your situation. But I think it is a little alarmist to say all non Asian soy is bad. More info to support the claims would be nice. Sorry I can't afford your book.

you "believe" it causes obesity?

I dont, I eat it and Im NOT obese.
Obesety is comming frome ones head- from its mind- because those (with obesity) cant take bad habbits from them selfs, and then they blame something else for their problem.
Obesety is for sociologists and psyhologists to explain.
Soy can not cause something that is a mind illness.. only mind can.

Do not eat it everyday-nothing should be eaten everyday-
mix your food- lots of diferent typs of veggies and soy will not be able to harm you or anyone else- if U eat only soy- ofcourse youll get ill.

Hi Dianne, this is very interesting information. I knew that one shouldn't overdo soy-intake and I knew I must not feed it to my dogs and cats (I feed them a natural raw-meat-and-bones diet), but I did not know that it can lead to anaphylactic shock and hypothyroidism! I do eat an occasional meal with tofu or tempe. I have learned that the best way to eat is with variation.
I would like to read your book!
