The recent, severe flooding in Miami, Okla., has endangered numerous pets unable to escape the high waters, contamination and chaos brought by the onslaught of rain. American Humane's Red Star Animal Emergency Services team is on the scene, helping animals stranded in the storm or requiring temporary shelter during their families' sudden relocation.

You can help by donating today to the American Humane Association, which mobilized over the Fourth of July holiday to lead the devastated area's animal rescue activities. In hazardous conditions, emergency workers piloted our fleet of rescue boats to save dozens of companion pets trapped in submerged homes. We're also helping the local shelter process a continuous, large influx of animal intakes and manage an emergency shelter in an outdoor covered space.

Ready to Protect Animals -- Anytime, Anywhere

American Humane's Red Star Animal Emergency Services team is always on call to serve. As soon as a disaster threatens, we contact local authorities and remain in close communication with them to determine whether we can help. In instances where we're needed, we deploy a nationwide network of trained animal emergency services volunteers whose relief and rescue experience in other disasters, such as Hurricane Katrina, is invaluable. We also provide an 82-foot-long "Disaster Response Rescue Rig" outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment to serve as an emergency command center, responder base of operations and mobile veterinary clinic.

Fifteen of our staff and volunteer responders are now in Oklahoma with the American Humane Rescue Rig doing everything they can to ensure the safety of local animals. Join us in this critical emergency response effort by making a donation today!
