American Humane Association Seeks Stronger Action from NFL Amid Indictment of Michael Vick in Dogfighting Investigation
Possible Participation in ‘Blood Sport’ Especially Not Appropriate for Role Models
The American Humane Association, the only national organization working to protect children and animals, is asking the National Football League to take a firm stance and make a strong statement against animal fighting in the wake of the indictment of Atlanta Falcons player Michael Vick.
“The NFL is in the position to help its players and staff recognize the severity of this blood sport and send a message to its players and fans that such participation, in any form, will not be accepted or endorsed,” American Humane President and CEO Marie Belew Wheatley said. “Those in the position of a role model, such as NFL players, benefit from public support and have a responsibility to set a good example for adults and children alike.”...Click here to read the whole story.
