"No one should claim to lecture anyone else" about human rights. The words are those of Portugal’s Prime Minister José Sócrates when asked about his government’s priorities during its new presidency of the EU.
They were addressed to Russia’s President Putin who is responsible for widespread abuse in Chechnya. It comes as the UN Human Rights Council failed to adopt a resolution to protect people in the republic.
Join our call on Portugal to make the issue central to its presidency by urging Russia to provide security for all civilians in Chechnya. Simply click the button on the right or visit our website:
Many thanks for supporting our fight for human security!
