PLANET EARTH IS 4600 MILLION YEARS OLD
If we condense this inconceivable timespan into an understandable concept, we can liken the Earth to a person of 46 years of age.
Nothing is known about the first 7 years of this person’s life, and whilst only scattered information exists about the middle span, we know that only at the age of 42 did the earth begin to flower.
Dinosaurs and the great reptiles did not appear until one year ago, when the planet was 45. Mammals arrived only 8 months ago. In the middle of last week human like apes evolved into ape like humans.
At the weekend the last ice age enveloped the earth.

Modern humans have been around for four hours. During the last hour we discovered agriculture.
The industrial revolution began a minute ago.

During those sixty seconds of biological time, HUMANS have made  a rubbish bin of this paradise.

We have caused the extinction of many hundreds of animal species, ransacked the planet for fuel and now stand like brutish infants, gloating over this meteoric rise to ascendancy on the brink of the final mass extinction and of effectively    destroying this oasis of life in the Solar System

Now we are on the last second to decide whether to conserve this oasis of life for Future Generations or Destroy it completely  so We can be sure that there will be NO FUTURE

Tony, I am glad there are sensible people such as you out there who can remind the unthinking, unconcerned masses that we are standing on the edge of a precipice. The decisions that every single one of us make, are of profound importance to the survival of our entire planet.

Thank you for this timely reminder!

I think the critical time has arrived for everyone to think. The Polar ice is melting, climate overturned, dieases increasing and nowhere is some clean air to breathe
Where are we leading our small earth to

I am also glad for sensible people like you that remind us just how horribly most of us have been treating our planet. I have been trying to do as much as I possibly can to help save our environment and our animal population. My sons have been brought up in this way, and I was lucky enough to meet my husband, who has always cared about our Earth as well. We have all been trying to spread the word to go green to as many people as we possibly can. Right now, my husband and I do not have much of an income, but we spend more money for things that are planet-friendly, and if we can afford to do this, surely many more people can as well. I have many animals at home that I have adopted, even though I am and always have been, allergic to all animals, as well as everything else under the sun. I have always had really bad allergies to pretty much everything, but have noticed over the years, that they have been getting worse and worse as our environment has gotten worse. My sons also have asthma, like I have had since 3 months old, and I truly believe that it has much to do with all the pollution where we live. We live about 2 hours north-west of Chicago, and about 30 minutes west of Milwaukee, which is Wisconsin's biggest city. I hate to think of how my boys and I would respond to living in a bigger city, where there tends to be much more pollution. My dream is to move to the country, where I do not have as much of a problem with my asthma, since the air is much cleaner there. I know this since my parents live in the country about 15 miles west of where we live, and when we go to visit them, I am actually able to plat sports with my kids and husband, which I am not able to do where we live now. Most of the time, I get an asthma attack just from climbing the stairway to get up to our apartment, and my allergist suggested me getting shots for allergic asthma, which would have to be given every two weeks, two shots every time period, at a cost of around $3000 a shot. I was previously on them, about a year ago, and they helped alot, but my insurance changed and no longer covered the shots. Now my insurance covers them again, but just with a small co-pay, which I don't mind paying, even though these small co-pays end up to about $70 a month for all my many medicines I have to take for allergies and asthma, as well as my diabetes, and other chronic illnesses. That is the main reason my husband and I do not have a substantial income. We usually have just enough to cover the main bills, juggling payments for some to every other month. If it weren't for my Mom, who ends up helping us financially, since my husband's sisters, two of which live in California, and the other lives in Pakistan, where she was born, don't really hear when we need some help with bills or food costs, and when they do, it takes so long for them to get help to us, since they are all so far away. Our dream is to be able to buy a house in the country, where I am healthier and so are my sons. My younger son also has a seizure disorder and ADHD, which I am positive he developed when we moved to the city, as a result of the environment, since he never really liked junk food, and has always had an obsession with his health. He did not get diagnosed with the seizure disorder until we moved to the city either. I see so many people that live by us that do nothing to help the environment, since it is not a law here. Even though we have recycle bins here, my one neighbor refuses to recycle, claiming it is too much of a hassle. She wastes so much. They always go out to eat, since she is too lazy t cook, and she uses so much electricity as well, leaving everything on in their apartment when they are hardly ever home. One small thing I make sure to do all the time, is whenever we are not using chargers or electronics like our TV, we always unplug them, since they draw energy when they are even turned off. I have heard that a TV uses more electricity when it is off, than when it is on, but have no reports on this fact. I have noticed though, that before we started unplugging everything when not in use, that we used more electricity than the neighbor who is always leaving all of her electronics on all day and night, whether they are home or not. If anyone knows the reason behind these electronics using energy even when they are turned off, but still plugged in, could you please let me know? I can only think of electronics that have clocks on them, so they use energy for the clocks to stay on time, but I do not understand why chargers use energy even when they are not in use, but still plugged in. I love all animals, even wild ones, and if it were possible and humane to have a black panther as a pet, I would do so in a heartbeat!!!! I have always had a fascination with them, and every time I go to our local zoo, I don't spend much time looking at other animals, I just sit and watch the only panther they have there for hours and hours. I have a pure black house cat at home, which my mom believes is unlucky if you cross it's path, but it is the closest I can get to actually having black panther. I also love all cats, even wild ones. I think maybe in a past life, I was some kind of cat, and my cats at home are all just like relatives and other people I was close to in real life, that have passed on before they were born. All animals are so intelligent, and I have had a pet cat that has saved my life, when I was in high school, that did something she never did before, or ever after that incident. My one pet cat that I have now, that was born shortly after my older cat passed on, had the exact same personality as the old cat from the very moment I first met her. She also ended up saving my life, doing something totally unlike any cat has been known to do, she jumped in a full tub of water, somehow managing to get the plug out of the drain, and so she saved me from drowning, since I had passed out from a low blood sugar. All three of my cats were in the bathroom at the time, but the other two were just on the side of the tub, as if to watch over me. They always follow me, whichever room I go into, like their purpose in life is to guard me. They seem to know that my blood sugars are always low, and they always watch to make sure nothing happens to me, since my hubby and sons are gone all day long. I try to eat all the time, but my blood sugars are still low many times a day, and I have been constantly losing weight, which I am not trying to do. Most of this has to do with the fact that the landlord has the heat set extemely high, and we have no individual temperature control in our apartments, since the buildings are so old, that they still have milk delivery doors in them. I love older buildings, but cannot stand the extreme heat here, since it is easily almost 100 degrees in our place, if we do not open our windows, even when it is below zero outside. And then the landlord threatens to evict us for opening our windows to deal with the extreme heat. I do not understand why he constantly complains about his high heating bills, when all he has to do to lower them, is simply set the heat way lower than he does. He even has the heat on, when it is an average of 60 degrees outside, which really makes no sense to our family and all the neighbors, who are also constantly complaining of the too high heat. Along with making my blood sugars dangerously low all the time, I get heat exhaustion, which also causes me to pass out many times, and I get really bad heat rash. We have all told this creep that this is happening to me, but he does not care. He would rather risk peoples lives than do anything about the heat problem. He is using so much energy, when all the people that live in our buildings are all suffering. He has many cars that are gas guzzlers, and takes un-needed trips all over all the time. He has so much money that he could help with places that are trying to help our Earth, but yet cares nothing about it. Most of the people who have money around here, care nothing about helping our environment, and are constantly hurting it. I really like to hear about people who care about our Earth and its inhabitants and try to help it. I am so thankful for those who care and are willing to try to do something for it. My best friend since high school also has many chronic illnesses that have been diagnosed recently, and I truly believe that many of hers are affected by the environment as well. She cannot even work in her dream field which was helping animals. She was previously a wild animal rehibilitator, and went ot veterinary school and worked in a veterinary clinic and other animal related places as well, until her chronic illnesses caused her not to be able to work anymore.
