My son Andrew was diagnosed with P.D.S. glaucoma two weeks ago...or pigmentary dispersion syndrome glaucoma.  This condition causes increased pressure inside the eyeballs, and - untreated - can lead to damage to the optic nerve, blurriness of vision, and blindness.

Andrew is only 24.

He saw a glaucoma specialist last Wednesday, and was given eye drops - Xalatan - in order to try to reduce the pressure in his eyes.  This drug works wonderfully well for SOME patients, but not much at all for others.

The specialist saw him again this morning, and unfortunately, the eye drops have not produced the desired results.  Andrew is scheduled for laser surgery on his left eye tomorrow afternoon, as the pressure in that eye is "critical".  During the surgery, the surgeon will - basically - drill little holes in Andrew's eye in order that the aqueous material inside can slowly drain out, relieving the pressure.

As his right eye is somewhat less affected at the moment, surgery on that eye can wait until a later date.

Please - if your beliefs allow - please send healing thoughts and positive energy our way.

I thank you, on behalf of my son Andrew.

Update: Andrew received laser surgery on both eyes on September 5th. His eyes healed perfectly after the surgery, but the pressures are still too high, and he will need to use the therapeutic eye drops for the rest of his life in order to keep the pressures under control. We are grateful, though, that the surgery alleviated any imminent danger, and it is our hope that he will not lose any more of his visual acuity.
Thank you to those who commented, sent net messages or stars, and to those whose thoughts, prayers and wishes helped us through this stressful time.

All good wishes Tracy! For you and those you Love <3

I read this blog recently and apologize for being a late responder.

I was reminded of a Homeopathic treatment I know to have been helpful with glaucoma. Though your son's experience is a variation, perhaps this information may be worthy of inquiry on his behalf.

Close relatives on both sides of my family have glaucoma, so I heard this with interest from a rather studious neighbour. She said she began taking "Choline" and "Inositol" after being diagnosed with glaucoma. She told further that after adding it as a consistent supplement, that within less than a year her Doctor took her off of her prescription medication for glaucoma. Over the course of beyond several years and I believe undergoing routine follow up exams, she has remained free of continuing symptoms and prescription medications.

As you may know, these two, Choline and Inositol, supplements have been referred to as "members of the B vitamin family." Inostitol "has been called vitamin B8, though that is not technically correct."

Both are readily available. If you have a Homeopath or Natural Medicines Specialist that you know or has been recommended, I believe they could suggest a proper and useful dosage. Possibly it would be a viable option to try along with your son's regular treatment.
