We don't have to just sit back and listen to the media who tells us that the price of gasoline/gallon will continue to rise.  There are many factors that enter this equation, but we, the consumer have something to say about this.  Back when we read about all the gouging going on, the Federal Government established a web site for the consumers to help keep an eye on the increasing and sometimes unreasonable prices.  Please join the many others who are already working with this site.  You simply go to:
         http://gaswatch.energy.gov
The only identifying item you will leave here is your city and state.  You will be requried to also leave the name, address, city, state and price of gasoline for each gas station you are reporting.

I am frequently asked "How do I know if a gas station is charging to much?"
The answer is simple.  We all know who carries the cheapest gas in our community. Whether or not you choose to shop there is unimportant, but their price is.  Take their price (IE: $2.95/gal) and look around.  If a gas station down the road is charging $2.99 or more per gallon, go to this Department of Energy site and report them.

Yes, it does work.  I, personally, have been using this site for 2 years.  When I send in locations, normally within 2 business days we see a decrease of 2-5 cents per gallon.  If we all join in with the reporting, we will see reductions across the nation.  There is no reason for the big petroleum companies to be able to raise the prices in order to post profits of more than one billion dollars in any quarter.  In fact, I personally think this is an exorbitant amount for even a year.
