Name:Valerie(Mother), Wally(Brother) & Walter(Grandpa)
Type:Memorial (for the deceased)
To Honor:Individual(s)
Location:, California United States
These three people were my 'first half' family.  I call it that for lack of a better phrase for the growing up part of family, from being born until you meet and marry your soul-mate (ideally) and start your 'second half' family.  I hope that explains it, but if anyone has a better definition please let me know.....and the two men in the left of the picture are Wally and Walter, the third is my surviving brother and all I have left of 'first half' immidiate family, Steven.

This is the first time I have wrote of this, and this will be quite breif and only the begining.  In January, 2004 I lost my Brother basically to throat cancer, although after a laryngectomy and therapy the cancer was under control.  But my brother could not come to terms with his situation so he literally starved himself to death.  He was only 18 months older than I and we were more like twins.  He had his faults.....many, many faults, but he was wonderful.  He was my protector and I was his, I miss him so but I know he is home now, safe and happy and hopefully watching over me.....I love you Walt.

Six short weeks later I lost my best (female) friend, my Mother also to cancer.  I was very fortunate in that I did get to say my good byes to her, but how hard it was to let her go....I thank The Lord for every day I had with them both and I know it is not my place to question His Plan, actually, knowing His Plan is a great comfort, knowing that I, too am a part of It!
My mother was a true, true Lady in every sense of the word.  I only hope that I have made her proud to have me as her only daughter because a more wonderful Mother or best friend would be next to impossible to find.  I miss you Mother.......I love you and thank you for all that you gave me to make my life what it is, I'm so proud to be your daughter.

The next months were filled with healing and helping to take care of Grandpa who was more like a Father to me.  I lost Gramps on February 8, 2006.  He was 97, but he was a young 97.  On the Monday before he passed he had to see me and Ron.  He was so releived when we came to visit (he'd been in hospital since Jan 1 because of a mild stroke), and I prayed with him, but this time was different, he was very intent about praying together and seeing me, really seeing me - soul searching maybe - I see now that he had to be sure that I was OK and he was saying good bye.....that everything was as it should be, he was going home, and I was not to dwell on the sadness but rejoice in his life!  What a fabulous man.  A greater human I have never ever known.  I love you Gramps.......and Mother.........and over me and mine.  I'll see you all when I, too, come home!
