Factory Farming - Biggest Cause of Animal Cruelty

Factory Farming - Biggest Cause of Animal Cruelty Factory farming is the biggest cause of cruelty to animals in the world today.

Supporting WSPA Farmwatch is the biggest and most important thing you can do to end the shocking cruelty suffered by billions of animals worldwide.

Factory Farming

Learn more about factory farming

Nothing can prepare you for your first glimpse inside a factory farm.

I remember the overwhelming feeling of shock that such cruelty was still legal.

I immediately understood why the factory farming industry is so private - if people really knew what went on, there would be public outrage.

Amy Firth, WSPA Farmwatch Campaign Manager

There are better ways

Gloucester pigs at FAI Farm
  • Ways that are humane for the animals;
  • Better for consumers;
  • And still profitable for the farmers.

And we can prove it:

Through partnership with Food Animal Initiative, we have tested and proved farming methods that are humane to animals and allow farmers to make a profit.

Why is this so important?

More animals are subjected to severe cruelty by factory farming than in any other way.

The scale of the problem is truly massive – 4 billion mammals and 55 billion poultry, the majority of which are kept in terrible conditions in factory farms every year.

That is 59 BILLION animals.

Animals have feelings, suffer and feel pain

In countries like China and Brazil, factory farming is about to explode.

This means that billions more animals will endure abject misery and suffering.

We must stop this trend as soon as possible if we are to save billions more farm animals suffering behind the closed doors of factory farms.

It will not be a quick fix.

These are enormous issues and it will take many years of determination and commitment from WSPA and our supporters.

The horror of factory farming is real

With a huge, long term task like this, the sooner we start, the sooner we can end the suffering of billions of animals.

The horror is real and continues every minute of every day.

WSPA Farmwatch is determined that this must stop

The sheer scale of the numbers of suffering animals and the numbers of countries involved make this a complex and enormous task.

WSPA Farmwatch has been working behind the scenes for a number of years, lobbying governments, influential people and organisations.

We need to keep lobbying these governments and decision makers.

We need to keep educating farming organisations and factory farmers about the benefits of humane, cruelty free methods of farming.

We also need to put “People Power” into action; see our ‘Humane Hints‘ and try to bear them in mind while you shop.

Adhering to these principles is one small way you can help to end this unbelievable suffering as well as making a donation to WSPA today.

If it is not profitable, it will stop.

Please donate now and help us end factory farming >>
