Was announced that the first official miracle attributed to Mother Teresa of Calcutta had been announced.
An Indian woman who had a large tumor in her stomach was miraculously healed on September 5th, 1998. Her name is Monica Besra and she is 30 years old. Monica had been living for several years in one of the homes that Mother Teresa established. She had been told by doctors that the tumor she had was inoperable and she was terminal.
However, after several of Mother Teresa's nuns prayed for her on the first anniversary of Mother's death and placed a small medal that had been blessed by Mother Teresa on her swollen abdomen, the woman went to bed and awoke the next morning tumor free. She's been completely healthy since then..over 4 years.
The case was investicaged by three different commissions. One commission was made up of theologians and the other two of physicians and cardinals. All three commissions agreed that the healing was spontaneous (not due to medicine), total, and irreversible. Therefore, Mother Teresa's beatification and canonization is closer because of this miracle.
Thank you God!
