Mayor es quien tiene mucha edad,
viejo es quien perdió la jovialidad.

La edad causa la degeneración de las células;
la vejez produce el deterioro del espíritu.
 
Sos mayor cuando te preguntás... ¿vale la pena?;
sos viejo cuando -sin pensar- respondés que no.
 
Sos mayor cuando soñás;
sos viejo cuando apenas conseguís dormir.
 
Sos mayor cuando todavía aprendés;
sos viejo cuando ya no enseñás.
 
Sos mayor cuando conseguís hacer ejercicios;
sos viejo cuando pasás la mayor parte de tu tiempo sentado o acostado.
 
Sos mayor cuando el día que comienza es único;
sos viejo cuando todos los días son iguales.
 
Sos mayor cuando en tu agenda tenés proyectos y obligaciones para cumplir mañana, pasado o la semana que viene; sos viejo cuando tu agenda está en blanco y sólo vivís pensando en los ayeres.
 
El mayor trata de renovarse cada día que comienza; el viejo se detiene a pensar que ése puede ser el último de sus días y se deprime, porque mientras el mayor pone la vista en el horizonte, donde sale  el  sol e ilumina sus esperanzas, el viejo siente que tiene cataratas que miran las sombras del ayer.
 
En suma, el mayor puede tener la misma edad cronológica que el viejo; sus diferencias están en su espíritu o en su corazón.

Bien¡ Estoy muy contenta porque he descubierto que soy MAYOR y no vieja¡¡¡ Tengo ya muchos años pero me encanta conversar con los jovenes (de hecho me encuentro más agusto que con la gente de mi edad...)Me encanta viajar y disfruto con todo lo que descubro nuevo por ahí. Me gusta aprender y hago todos los cursos que puedo (literatura, pintura, teatro, etc.) Gracias por corroborar lo que ya presentía y es que soy un mujer mayor con un espíritu muy muy joven. Besos.

Lamentablemente hoy en día muchos jovenes son 'viejos'... la edad no es más que un número, tratemos de ser jovenes por siempre, inyectémosle chispa a nuestra vida y la de los que nos rodean. Miremos ayer con satisfacción y mañana con entusiasmo :)
