Can somebody tell me if a Hybrid SUV would be a good application for a mall security vehicle which has many starts and stops all day ?

In short, yes, a hybrid SUV would be good for stop-and-go driving. The important things to look for are regenerative braking (the electric motor supplies much of the braking force and recharges the batteries as it does so) and a power management system that uses the electric motor more than the gasoline engine. Some hybrid vehicles have EPA city driving mileage ratings higher than highway driving ratings. That is ideally what you are looking for if you are going to be doing stop-and-go driving.

Any of the hybrid SUVs would be great. If you need the capability, you should look at the new Chevy Tahoe hybrid.
