Remember Little Dyna Cadilig , the Filipino girl who was born with two club feet? Trivani recently received this email from Erwin Boiser, Trivani’s Country Manager in the Philippines, with information on Dyna’s life-changing experience and how she is doing now, after her surgery:
Dear Chad and the group at Trivani,
Dyna’s mother wanted to thank you for giving her daughter a new life. I’m a witness of how this little kid’s face shone with happiness as she put on her first pair of shoes. Her mother, Emilyn, was overwhelmed to realize that her dream of seeing her daughter walk straight is now a reality.
Emilyn can remember the first time she and her husband saw Dyna. She was calm, but something was different about her: her distorted feet. She can also recall the first time she went out looking for answers and help for little Dyna. She went to different people, hoping she could find someone who could help her daughter, but to no avail. Her relatives and neighbors told her to give up and start accepting that she couldn’t do anything.
Emilyn didn’t stop, however, and for some reason, God was still listening. On February 1, a Deseret International employee approached Emilyn while she was walking around the neighborhood with Dyna and told her that Dyna’s feet could still be fixed. That day, Emilyn borrowed some money from her neighbors so she could travel to Cebu and meet us. The next day, she was already in the hospital for Dyna’s first check up.
Dyna soon had the operation, where the doctors released the tendons in her feet and cast them three times to slowly put the two feet in place. The whole process took a month to complete. On March 10, I was able to see her feet transform, and it’s beautiful. Nothing can replace the emotion I felt that morning when I saw Emilyn and Dyna’s eyes glittering with tears of happiness. Never again will her mother support Dyna’s feet with bamboo sticks to straighten them, and never again will she and her husband worry that their daughter will be mocked. They have seen a miracle in her two feet, and I have seen it as well.
They wanted to thank you, Chad and the group, for the immeasurable help. Emilyn said she can’t repay us, but she prays that God will bless what we are doing so that more people will be blessed by Deseret International and Trivani. She said she will look for kids like Dyna who she knows can take part in a medical miracle.
Sincerely,
Erwin Boiser
