For a long time meditation was a frustration to me. I would get all set up for the meditation curl up before my candle - and boom - within minutes my mind would take off like a bunch of scared rabbits. I just couldn't keep my mind settled enough to do more than maybe five minutes of meditating. Frustrating? Yes because I had always thought that to meditate our minds were supposed to be still and quiet. I spoke to my counselor last week about it and was amazed at his answer - there is focused meditating and non focused. The focused is where you focus on your breathing especially when you what to raise energy for healing or magick work. The unfocused is what you do on a daily basis to keep yourself centered and grounded. My counselor told me to let the thoughts come and go as they will, seeing them but not hanging onto them. He said that he does this twice daily - in the morning to prepare himself for the day and in the evening to cleanse his mind of the clutter of the day.

We spoke about how he had once had a great meditation session one day and was looking forward to experiencing the same the next day. To his disappointment he didn't experience that feeling again. Why? Because during that meditation and day he had grown so he couldn't go back to what was. Each and everything that we do causes us to grow - either smaller or larger so our experiences of yesterday don't fit us.

This led to the general discussion of past, present and future. We came to the conclusion that tomorrow is the future and therefore doesn't exist. Yesterday, is the past so it does exist but what about today. We eventually came to the conclusion that today is just another part of the past and future. The only time that is real is NOW in the moment that we are right now. Since NOW is eternity then we are eternal.

Will you grow during your eternity? I feel that everything we do is a growing experience. Yes a lot of the experiences hurt but like the growing pains when we were kids it is a sign of growth. Everything we do, think, feel, see, taste, hear causes us to grow. The way we react to the input of our senses is whether we grow or not. If we withdraw then we don't grow (expand). To grow we should embrace all experiences, the negative as well as the positive, To ignore the negative experiences I think we shrink or get smaller somehow.

Tomorrow does exist. It dosent just pop out of thin air for your eyes to momentarily fix upon. Life is far more complicated than that.

Tomorrow (the future)only exists in our minds as a fantasy in a book or on the t.v. It is not here yet and is so full of possibilities that are determined with what you do NOW. If you live for tomorrow you are acting out a fantasy and not living. I am not saying to not have food in the house for tomorrow what I am saying is that if I only save the food for tomorrow you will never eat. Right? You can never catch up to tomorrow so why get stressed out over something that may/will never happen - thus tomorrow does not exist because it is in the future.

Hiya Judy .... There are many different styles and techniques for meditation and meditating ... It just depends on "how you hold your mouth" so to speak ! For example ..In the far eastern culture reciting mantras induces a alpha state and its consequential meditation. These mantras are also very useful for specific applications as well. In our busy lives a simple form of meditation can be to practise focusing. This entails choosing a simple object, the less cluttered the better, and concentrating on it. For example ...focus on a pen, examine it in detail, the length , the compositition, the colour, the clip, it's design, etc etc etc concentrat on it and eventually the same alpha state will arrive and relaxation will result. Wit it will come clear vision and clear thinking.
Hope this adds to your thoughts.
Blessed Be
