The arrest of unarmed seal protesters makes me ashamed to call myself Canadian.
Our government members don't comprehend the hypocrisy of denouncing countries like Japan for whaling or China for its human rights record at the same time as they sanction the murder of 350,000 seals to keep a handful of out-of-work Maritimers "employed." Who's going to listen to us? We're as bad as the nations we're scolding.
Why are we investing billions in tourism dollars when we're just going to flush our international image down the toilet for a few million bucks in seal pelts?
It's disgusting, an economic disaster and an embarrassment. Put Fisheries Minister Loyola Hearn in jail and let the Farley Mowat crew go.
