At Care2, we believe there are two important sides of making a difference: The “Me” and the “We”.
On the “Me” side, we help people discover how to reduce the toxins in their homes, find more balance in their lives, and reduce their impact on the planet.
For the “We” side, we help Care2 members raise their collective voices to move society to be more in line with conscious values. We partner with hundreds of nonprofit organizations to help move elected officials and business in a more sustainable direction.
It’s not enough to just change ourselves, or ask others to change. Both are needed.
The fascinating thing I’ve noticed over the years is the lack of organizations that truly enable both. Things are changing rapidly in this regard, but historically there were for profit companies helping with the “Me” (think yoga and health & wellness companies) and nonprofit organizations enabling the “We” (think activist organizations).
This divide may be because there tend to be individuals particularly passionate about either the “Me” or the “We” and thus gravity tends to pull one way or the other. We sometimes even see it on our site: activists who believe the “Me” folks are spending too much time “gazing at their navel” or spirituality folks who frankly find activists to be rather intimidating. And stereotypes aside, that’s OK - we’re excited that each of you want to make a difference!
Most of us raised in Western culture weren’t taught these things in school – so we’re all on this journey of discovery together. Our mission at Care2 is to create a safe place to help the broadest number of people possible see that we’re all connected… and through both the “Me” and the “We” we’ll change the world. |

Hi Randy,
Its good to find out who is behind Care2. I enjoyed your focus on the Me & We sides of making a difference. Naturally, there could be no "Me" without a "We"; human children are unlikely to survive without the "We" to nurture them. Likewise, it takes a lot of "Me's" co-operating together to make the "We". |

I loved this post..., and it helped to answer a question I had in the back of my mind for awhile..
I can't imagine the job it takes to maintain or manage the interactions of the membership of this huge network. I have notice the similarities of the activists in my causes, and the differences. Sometimes extreme, and sometimes opinions turn into insults.
However I love these words of yours;
"Our mission at Care2 is to create a safe place to help the broadest number of people possible see that we’re all connected… and through both the “Me” and the “We” we’ll change the world."
Thank you..Much Love and Peace..Namaste, Dar |
