Message: Crime Victims Speak Out Petition  



I became a victim of crime in a hotel on Paradise Island Bahamas, I was there with my husband. I reported the crimes yet the police and others that I reported them to let the men continue to live inside the hotel I was hurt in, with all the other tourists, coming and going. The govt. of the Bahamas let in thousands and thousands of foreign workers and placed these men into hotels for many years, it is still happening. They did not do immigration procedures, nor issue work permits, nor register them into the hotels. The employer hires ex-convicts also. The govt. of the Bahamas sells vacation packages, like ours, knowing this and knowing others were hurt. (www bahamas.com) They then have hidden clauses stating if you get hurt they will not be held liable. We are speaking up to make change so that others will be safe. The United Nations has come out and stated that the Bahamas has the highest recorded rape counts in the world, ten times higher and the most violent deaths. The Caribbean, including the Bahamas has the second highest HIV AIDS counts in the world, yet they continue to place visitors in danger and do not aid you when you get hurt.
