Dear Friends:

Unfortunately, too many adultas grew up without learning that animals are live beings and not objects.

It is therefore IMPERATIVE that children, from a very young age on, learn the DIFFERENCE between an OBJECT and an ANIMAL.

This should be taught early in SCHOOL, by volunteers, like myself, who prepare their own teaching materials.

It is IMPORTANT that the NEXT GENERATION is different from ours in that animals will be treated with UTMOST RESPECT.

Please THINK ABOUT IT!

Hello, im the host at EAC...a balanced approach...
I know that to stop a disease you must catch it in its early stages and to further this i colaberated with my sons head start class to come to my home *because I have quite a managerie at my house* to teach them about animals, how they live, how animals have families and family structure just like we do....that if you dont treat them nicely they are not happy....and because I have some rescue animals being fostered in my home right now I showed them charlie...charlie is a giant schnauzer who was beaten, chained to a fence in a back yard with no shelter all this past winter...and then eventually starved within an inch of his life until the animal rescue i support found him and had him seized by our local animal welfare authority....he is still just skin and bones...he has these huge pockets where the skin has seperated from the flesh, and the only reason i can foster him is because im a vet tech, and can clean and dress the wounds myself every day....charlie is healing slowly but when the children saw him they all started crying, I know this may have been a harsh way to introduce them to animal cruelty but the shock is just what they needed...when the kids saw charlie he walked up to them and started to lick the tears off their faces, as if to say "its ok! im ok now dont cry, im getting better!" they all loved on him and I told them that charlie was with a bad person who was very mean to him, and didnt feed or shelter him when we had all the snow so he has sores on his paws from frost bite....the next day the children all did a letter writting exercise *with the help of their folks of course, these are young kids* to the judge that is on the case deciding charlie's owners fates...and im happy to say that the man recieved three years in prison and a 5000.00 dollar fine...to me this is not nearly enough...but its better than most abusers get...and the prison time is garaunteed because its not his first offense...all because I decided to show kids the blunt truth about cruelty...i was applauded by the parents for not presenting it in a scary manner, it was the right balance of shock and sadness for this poor guy...and i hope that it will help to guide them in the future in thier beliefs about animal cruelty and that it needs to be stopped!
