Blog: Comfort

Most people are more comfortable with old problems than with new
solutions.

Comfort:

Today's word has a nice ring to it, it's something we all seek to
provide a sense of knowing - a feeling of safety. Familiarity brings
with it a certain sense of control, a safe space where our fear of
the unknown is less domineering.

Comfort has its downside however. Have you ever stayed in a
situation that was familiar, although you knew it wasn't making you
genuinely happy? Have you ever thought about trying something, only
to stop yourself without taking a risk? Our attachment to comfort
can be costly. It can cause us to resist change, which is necessary
for growth.

One of life's biggest lessons is learning to know comfort through
constant change. In order to attain a sense of peace and still reach
our fullest potential, we must seek comfort through developing higher
levels of trust and faith. When we can find comfort even in times of
upheaval and change it is a sign of tremendous spiritual growth.

Today's Exercise:

Reflect on comfort zones and what they mean to you in your life.
Have you limited yourself by staying in familiar
situations/conditions? How has this effected your level of joy, self-
confidence, sense of purpose? What are some ways you can build the
faith necessary to make changes and/or take chance.
