Blog: Obama Brings the Spirit of Division to the Democratic Party

Dear friends,

Do you remember that then Governor George W. Bush assured voters in 2000 that he was a "uniter and not a divider"? This is the same message that we are hearing from Senator Barack Obama. Yet, when has our party ever been so angry and divided over choosing a nominee?

This candidate is causing friction between long time network friends. Why did Obama even choose to run when he and Hillary Clinton agreed on most of the issues? It's called EGO.  Why else would a Senator still serving his first term arrogantly believe that he was ready to serve as Commander-in-Chief?

Yes, President George W. Bush had a charming manner and lead many people to think that he would be willing to work with the Democrats in Congress.

Senator Obama is even willing to let voters from 48 states select him at the party nominee. He thinks that Florida and Michigan will still choose him over McCain. I might not agree with McCain on all of the issues but I still have respect for him. He has served his country proudly both as a Senator for 24 years and a former POW.

If Obama is the nominee, I won't be voting for him.

Sorry, Kristi, but its' CLinto who is doing al lthe things you accuse Obama of doing. You are too blind to see it because you equate your familiarity with CLinton with quality, but she has displayed terrible judgment, and poor character. It is she who is splitting the party, not Obama. CLinton has personally insulted Obama, and you will not be able to find a single instance where he has mistreated her.

You have got to wake up, becuase you will be held responsible if Obama is sunk in November. You will have sunk women's rights. You will ahve sunk the prospect for peace. You will have slapped the faces of the kids who are sick of the same old DC crap that Clinton is part of.

The proof that it is you and your candidate who are diving the Dems and the nation is in my response to you. I have never been so angry at the totally unjust manner in which you and your ilk falsely defame Senator Obama with lies form the Right wing, our shared mortal enemy. If you side with them for the election, they will kill and eat you after the election.

Clinton is making a massive mistake in walking with the Devil. Do not follow her into it, because you forfeir your liberal soul in so doing.

Praying for your peace and conversion. See the light. This isn't about me or Obama, This is about the fate of the world.

Why is it that no one is allowed to criticize Obama? Also, the Republicans are not our mortal enemies. We have different points of view but we are all Americans and should look for common ground. Joe, your comments are so extreme and over the top, that they are laughable.

Despite what the cult of Obama wants to believe, Clinton has not divided the Democratic Party. The media and sexism within the party has done a lot to cause division. Obama has exhibited sexist behaviour during the primaries and needs to be called on it.
Hey JoeZ, your personal god that you blindly follow, has insulted women and Clinton is one of us.

The Democratic party has given me no reason to start voting for them. I am proud to be an Independent and to not be a blind follower of the same old-boys-club-business-as-usual fascists.

Democrat,Republican,Demopublican,Repubocrat, How do you tell which is which ? They all say most of the same things most of the time. Then get into office and do nothing except spend my money on the same things year after year after year after year that seem to accomplish nothing. We have not solved any of the campaign issues year after year after year like war, poverty, bad environment, oil price, and etc. etc, etc. It is hard to vote and support any of them because it seems that they are more interested in preserving their party than solving problems. Realistic I am, not bitter.

John & Joe - Hmmm, do I see a man-problem again here when we discuss HILLAYR CLINTON? Do I notice a pattern here that is country-wide? And to think so say it ain't so - that there was NO sexism in the Democratic primary race of 2008! I say.......HA! And I'm really very bored anymore with men OR the media blaming HILLARY CLINTON on the woes of our country (if not our world) when the last 43 presidents have been...*gasp* MEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe it might be YOUR eyes that need a bit of opening. Hillary Clinton is and always has been a CRUSADER for Democratic rights. She's a fighter, she's intelligent, she really IS the best suited person to take on the issues that are on the table (even the kitchen table!), and she speaks with more knowledge than Obama will be able to for another 20 years!

Obama can't even face debating her!!! And if he can't handle that, I would sure worry about him debating other world leaders with life-time experience in running their countries!

I'm still at a complete loss as to why ANYONE would think Obama stands for "CHANGE." In his entire campaign, I've yet to hear about all these concrete changes - the only change I've seen him make is to turn into the man he says he's not going to become - you know the type .....the one who kisses big $$$$$$'s to get his way. Hmmmm, "if you can't beat em, join em" should have been his campaign slogan - because that's exactly what he's turned into! He's more pro-eletist than he's ever been in his "short" political life!

Dp MPT talk about false accusations when your comments are full of them! Do you know what that does to Obama's credibility to have someone get on an rant at people like you just did? It certainly doesn't prove a thing, except maybe that Obama should now be embarrassed to be yet another MAN running for the office of presidency.

Sorry Joe, you are the one that is too blind to see...not Hillary supporters. We know who our candidate is, do you know yours? Or do you only know what Obama wants you to know? He is not a saint, he is just another very ambitious politician. You had better wake up. If your candidate wins this nomination and loses in the November election it will not be because of Hillary and her supporters. It will be because of who Obama really is and the nasty way he has run his campaign. Unfortunately, the Democratic Party and the news media has made a huge mistake when they decided to treat Hillary Clinton the way they have. Hillary Clinton is a United States Senator, the past First Lady of Arkansas, and the past First Lady of the United States, she deserves far more respect than she has been given in this election. When Obama, if elected, gets defeated in November it is you, and others like you, that will be responsible for sinking the prospect of peace and not having our men and women return from Iraq. Women's rights will not be "sunk" because Hillary, and women like her, will still be here to fight for our rights and equality. I pray that you will see the "light" and be delivered out of the darkness you are in. Our liberal souls are fine and will be fine no matter what happens in this election.

Bush was never charming. I hated him right from the very start! I think alot of religious people voted for him but even they were duped. Obama is charming and He is not a divider. Hillary Clinton is a republican in disguise. I don't like her after all I have read about both, I like Obama.

Surely, the division is already there at the heart of the US - it is the racism that is so fundamental to the whole system. It has been a method of control throughout history, and the Clinton's have played this card for all it is worth. So they are using an already existent division to try to attain power. This is particularly depressing to see in the party that calls itself democratic. The party is supposed to represent the people, ALL the people, and it should promote inclusiveness and understanding, not encourage ignorance, fear and intolerance. Obama may be no good, time will no doubt tell, but his abilities or lack of them have nothing to do with his ancestry. The Clinton's should stick to policy, but that's hard for them, as all they have to say is "Vote for Hillary, she knows the White House." What have they really got to offer, except a sleazy history?

When President Clinton left office in 2001, the country was in MUCH better shape! Everyone was arguing what to do with the budget surplus. I think that Hillary Clinton will be a great President. Barack Obama's mixed heritage has NOTHING to do with my opposition to his being the party nominee. It is his complete lack of experience. If Hillary Clinton had tried to run for President in 2000, it would have been a mistake. However, she wisely ran for a Senate seat and has served SEVEN years.

Kristi,
You are totally right here. How can someone claim to care about all ‘folks’ and treat the people of Michigan and Florida as if they only count if they are voting for him! It is laughable to hear him claim to be a Uniter when he has done nothing but create the worst divide in Democratic history! He cannot run this country and cannot win the Presidency and will be responsible for another Republican in charge!

I still am in shock at all of the people that are blindly following someone like Obama that they have absolutely no clue as to who he really is or even care that he has absolutely no experience other than a few years in the Senate which he failed miserably at that job. People need to look at the people in his district and see that they did not prosper under him, but instead things that did not remain the same, only got much worse.

The long list of lies from Obama continues to grow yet his followers excuse each one of them. The guy doesn’t even know how many states there are claiming he has been to 57 of them, but his followers make excuses for him each time he says things that are just so off like this. He has lied about his family, friends, business dealings, pastor, record, beliefs as well as shown that anyone/everyone that might hurt his campaign will have their character assassinated, like his Grandmother's was.

The ONLY person making this a racial issue is Obama. He has milked it, used it, and is running on it. His race does not make him the better candidate and it does not make him the worse candidate, it is totally a non-issue for all but a small percentage of people. The ONLY thing that makes him the worse candidate is HIM! All of you Obama followers, if you get your way here, each of you will have to live with the fact that you and you alone will be responsible for putting the worse person in the White House, regardless of if it is Obama or McCain.
