It was fantastic to see so many Care2 members at the Green Festival in Chicago. We met hundreds of Care2 members during the two days we were there, and talked with thousands of other soon-to-be (yea!) members.
Each of the four Green Festivals has its own personality. San Francisco’s tends to be pretty “deep green”. Washington, DC has a greater emphasis on the political side of creating sustainability. At Seattle people were thrilled that the Green Festival was in the “Emerald City” this year for the first time. And at Chicago, many of the Green Festival attendees I met said they felt like they were among the minority in their communities who realized the importance of going green.
It was great to have Care2’s green living expert, Annie Bond, with us at the Chicago festival. At times it felt like the “We Love Annie Show” as folks who had been reading her books and newsletters showed up with such great enthusiasm. Annie’s is such an inspirational story, as she turned a devastating chemical poisoning into a passion for helping millions of others learn how to reduce their exposure to toxins. Stories from members who have been helped by Annie and Care2 really speak to my heart.
It was also great to see so many people who want to deepen their commitment to sustainability by working for a greener company. More than 50 people asked me if we had job opportunities in Chicago. When I tell people we’re based in the San Francisco Bay Area, I usually see an expression of “well of course you are” response, given the area’s reputation for healthy and green living. The good news is that based on the number of amazing local green companies at the Green Festival (including vegan restaurants, apparel shops, alternative energy solutions providers , and more), it’s evident that the “green collar” revolution is already beginning in Chicago and surrounding areas, which is really great to see.
So thank you Chicago for the extremely warm welcome. And thank you Care2 members for showing your support. It’s great to be making a difference together. |

I'm so glad that you and Annie got to see so many Care2 members, and equally glad that members got to see you both - I know how chuffed I'd feel if I had been one of them. Seeing proof of a healthy green revolution in Chicago must have been very pleasing. Well I ought to go get ready to welcome the influx of new members from Chicago ;)
Best wishes and thanks,
Jenny |
