The police in San Francisco treat the homeless as if they are a disease or a pest that MUST be controlled. The other day I witnessed a police officer use extremely offensive language when addressing a homeless man. I have seen the homeless kicked, shoved and treated as less than human. I must say that of course there have been exceptions to this. There have been officers who genuinely treat these homeless as the citizens they are. It is the same when "normal" human beings walk by a homeless. They act as though we don't exist. But...I hate to tell you... we are very active Care2 members and WE are homeless. So, the next time you see a homeless person think of me and Rick. Then you must put a face to the word "HOMELESS". )O( Chell |
