I would be remiss
if I failed to make a colorful
mention as well as "plug"
an event I can truly consider
a "brother" to the Luminous Blog
(or at least some undefined
kinship is definitely there -
somewhere...!)


No tomayto/tomahto
Luminato/Luminous Luciano
analogies, this year...
No...


Just a list of contemporaries
that I could dub

of this year's Luminato -
a festival of luminescence
in arts, primarily,
it is after all...!

Dan Zanes will engage
with the Toronto community
through a variety
of sing-a-longs,
workshops
and other related events."

"Exploring the Science of Music
at the Ontario Science Centre
Saturday, June 14, 10:30am
In partnership with
the Ontario Science Centre,
Luminato will offer
an interactive workshop
where families will experiment
with unusual materials
to explore the science of soundwaves,
frequencies and vibrations,
and hear Dan perform
a few of his signature songs
(free with admission to
the Ontario Science Centre).
Following the workshop,
Dan Zanes will also engage
with other areas of the Science Centre
through informal and interactive
family sing-a-longs."

Riverdale Branch
Tuesday, June 10,
2:00pm-3:00pm
Multicultural storytelling
and sing-a-longs will entertain
families of all ages.

families of all ages."

Vichy Healthy Skin Centre, 3:00 p.m.
Music Workshops & Family Jam Session
Local artists will work with families
to make simple percussion instruments
out of recycled materials,
followed by a
‘How to Grow a Family Band'
jam session
using the instruments created."
Now THAT is what I call
being LUMINOUS!
Not for anyone to think that
Luminato is just
the "Dan Zanes show"...!
Other luminaries present include

Count Basie Orchestra,
the incomparable
Molly Johnson,
Marika Bournaki,
Luke Doucet,
Ron Sexsmith,
Kim Stockwood,
Karen David
and many more!

free events
moderated by
luminaries such as

this cannot be beat!
