This poor girl needs a home. She has been at an animal shelter all her life & has become terribly depressed. They will euthanize her on June 30, 2008, if no one rescues her, here is her story:

About Bella Bella has been here almost all her life...Since 2003 to be exact...There is only one dog here longer than she is...The problem is that Bella is very depressed...For most of the time she has been here she had a penmate every day and that dog was adopted a few months ago....Since then, Bella just stays curled up in the back of her cage and wont even take treats much of the time...If euthanized it will be because it is the only humane thing to do ...bella needs a home...She has been overlooked for years as so many dark,brindle pits are.....She walks like a lady and she is appropriate on leash with every dog we pass....She likes all dogs but she is definitely a dominant dog and not submissive in any way...Is there anyone out there who can help her ? don't let Bella's life end in a shelter, PLEASE

I wish I could help, it breaks my heart. I live in Alabama......I can't afford to go to NY and get her. I end up with every stray in my neighborhood because I can't stand to see them suffer. I wish I had an answer for Bella, she is truly a beautiful dog. Good luck and if I think of something I will let you know

well good news... I just spoke with Yonkers Shelter and Bella has found a forever home!! She was adopted by a couple about a week ago.
