Rush of Indulgence 

Look into my brown eyes
Like those of your lover,
Your sister, your brother,
Your mother, your father.
See the affectionI have for my kin,
The way we stay close to one another.
See the life within
And the rush of fear
When I hear twigs crackle
Or shots echo
As I retreat running through brush
Or feel the piercing metal
Screaming through my back
And I fall into place
As some person’s wall trophy. 

Look. Look again now.
