I'm a new member, also a new canine-mommy to a beautiful dog named Dulce (which is like Sweet in spanish) I adopted her from a shelter after they rescue her from a house on which she was held with another 27 dogs or so, trapped in a room with no water, food or sunlight. The people from this house were actually that perverse, that the poor dogs that died were not taken out from this room, but left to decompose among the living ones. This happened in Costa Rica, where I live.
I heard the news on the TV, not to my surprise the reporter made it sound like "this poor family that had no money to take care of their beloved dogs, had to gave them away". Let's just say that it made my skin crawl with anger to hear that the suffering that those dogs went through was completely denied.
I look for the shelter and contact them, and that's how I ended up being a mommy to Dulce, a 5 year old dog which has change my life completely. She has change a lot since we first brought her home. Now she's gaining weight, she's getting healthy and she just recently started to play around (she was way to shy before) and she's so obedient and tender that makes my heart melt everyday.
I'm a buddhist wich believes on being compassionate towards every expression of life (a person, an animal, a plant) but I just can't find any compassion to give to people that hurt and torture animals, I just can't.
So for all of you out there that has taken actions against animal cruelty, may my blessings reach your homes and hearts, and thank you for caring and making this world a better one.
My best wishes to you and your love ones.
