Blog: Smart Ideas To Make You Healthier

1) Beer is good for your heart!

You don't have to drink wine if you prefer beer.  Australian research shows that women who down one 12-ounce brewski per day enjoy the same heart-protective benefits as women who sip red wine.
2) Fiber helps you breathe easier!
Women who consume at least 12 to 15 grams of fiber daily breathe easier-whether they smoke or not-reports the American Journal of Epidemiology.  Researchers aren't sure why fiber helps lungs function properly, but they do know the best sources: whole grains like bran cereal, and fruits.
3) Pregnant?  You NEED chocolate!
Eating at least seven ounces of chocolate each week in the third trimester of pregnancy lowers a woman's risk of developing pregnancy-related high blood pressure by 40%, reveals Yale researcher in the journal Epidemiology.  Chocolate contains theobromine, a compound that relaxes muscles and blood vessels.
4) Housework can make you happy!
Just 20 minutes a week of scrubbing the tub, vacuuming or performing any other vigorous chore helps boost your mood, according to a surprising new study of 20,000 people in the British Journal of Sports Medicine.
5) Back Pain?  Save your cash!
Wearing a wide belt, or a lumbar support, when performing heavy lifting doesn't really prevent or manage back pain, according to a new Dutch review of 15 clinical trials that involved 15,000 people.
