My lady friend has had neurological problems for many years. Occasional seizures, shakes, weakness in legs, stuff like that. That is granddaughter above.
Was being seen by supposedly best neurologists in S.E. at Grady hospital in Atlanta (medicaire or caide I never really remember which)
Got a diagjnosis of HIV related neuroencephelosophy or something like that to get covered.
They watched her for a couple of years+- and did not perscribe a thing, just wait and see while her shakes got worse and she became steadily more disabled, now these are supposed to be the top men in the state or better.
Moved a little bit away and found a nice young MD who became her primary care physician. He talked to us and then asked, what can I do for you.
I told him she had been on (some seizure med I don't remember which maybe dilantin) years ago but it didn't help. He said well lets try some depacote. A week later she could walk much much better, shakes largely gone, could cook in kitchen and hold hot pots and pans again.
Just goes to show that one careing GP who was actually interested in helping a patient instead of obersving for years and waiting for an interesting autopsy can make such a huge difference in a person's life.
Do I have any great faith in public health system or most health professionals in general? No.
I favor some form of single payor medecine with universal coverage for all except for unnecessary/elective cosmetic stuff, and no braces unless there is actual difficulty in chewing . . .
I believe we should compensate MDs well and do away with profits for health insurance and drug production.
Well I was invited to this group and asked to contribute so here it is.
I really meant it as a post to the group but it came out this way, oh well, sorry I can't operate this network very well as you can see.l
