It is a very serious issue, and both animalist societies and government institutions are trying to deal with it. Trenitalia's new rule would just incourage more people to abandon their pets.....

County Sheriff, Mike Scott in full uniform, spoke at a political rally for the McCain-Palin presidential campaign. He spoke of Barack Obama, calling him "Barack Hussein Obama".....

This is the same rally where a supporter shouted "KILL HIM" (about Obama) and neither Sarah Palin, nor any of the security/staff, batted an eye.

On October 1st, the United States military committed a crime against their own mentally wounded U.S. soldiers serving in Iraq.  Commanding officers ordered the confiscation of a dog, Ratchet, befriended by a group of soldiers during a 15th month of deployment. Ratchet has been a lifeline to Sgt. Gwen Beberg. This morning, Ratchet was on his way to SPCA International rescue experts at the Baghdad Airport to be flown home to Gwen's parents in Minneapolis, MN when Sgt. Beberg's commanding officers ordered Ratchet confiscated and held in Iraq to face certain death.

It is deeply disturbing to see living creatures on display in glass windows, being sold as if they are no different from the other accessories in the store.  This causes people to purchase puppies on impulse, and without the understanding that owning a pet is a major responsibility, which leads to many puppies being abandoned or surrendered to shelters, where they may be euthanized simply because there are not enough resources to care for them.
