(The photo is of me - not Elizabeth Green!)
Ms. Elizabeth Green has been incarcerated in the Marysville, Ohio State Prision for 28 years. She is only 45 years old. Her birthday was October 13.
Her co-defendant was released in June 2008. Elizabeth Green has never filed any appeals on her own behalf, but she has told me that she was currently planning to file for clemency.
We have corresponded several times. I let her know of the wonderful, caring people I have met here on Care 2 - and the power I have seen on this site. I offered to spread the word about her clemency filing and even to perhaps start a petition on her behalf that she could attach to the file showing the support of the "average" people - just like us - who care about the Ms. Elizabeth Greens' of this world.
I first heard of Ms. Elizabeth Green on the WE Network, Women behind Bars, several years ago. They chose her because she had origianlly been sentenced to the Death Penalty and her sentenced had been "reduced." I contacted the network and asked them how I could correspond with Ms. Green. When she told her story she mentioned that NO ONE in her family had EVER been to visit her in prison. 28 years is a long time to go without feeling that someone on the outside even knows you exist.
I have supported several other prisoner's petitions and offered them moral support as well. Because, I believe that people change, that Ms. Elizabeth Green has served her time and that I truly would like the involved parties to seriously consider her petion for clemency. Especially in light of them releasing her co-defendant this year.
You can reach Ms. Green at:

Please take the time to drop her a line if you can - to show support, say a friendly hello, or whatever POSITIVE encouragement you can offer her.
In the meantime, I am extremely new to this end of Care 2 - and I would simply appreciate any guidance one would care to share with me as to how to best go about presenting Ms. Green's current situation to the Care 2 World Population!
Thank You so much for EVERYTHING you all have shown me ~ simple kindness, sharing joys, dedication to causes and freedoms, love of our families and friends. I just knew I had found a second home when I found Care 2.
Please feel free to contact me with any further questions.
