We all know that we're expected to be on our best behavior at church, but do we really know why that is?  Shouldn't we be on our best behavior all of the time?  Is behaving as if we're something we're not when we're not being a hypocrite when we walk through those doors?

Well, sure, we should be behaving our best all the time, and that's what we're learning to do.  By behaving our best at church, it sets a pattern.  It gives us a chance to see how it feels, to practice, and to be supported by others in realizing a better way of presenting ourselves.

We all make mistakes.  Everyone is perfect in God's eyes and in our creation, but let's face it, we fall short in carrying that out.  We all make mistakes.  We all "sin."  (A sin is simply missing the mark.)

But it's important to think about how we would act if we were living in the perfection we were created to be.  We would be kind, loving, healthy, fair, honest, strong, secure, positive, compassionate, generous, optimistic, even-tempered, light-hearted, happy, fulfilled!

Let's practice together!  What would be so bad about portraying these qualities each day?

Kind...to everyone and everything, including ourselves.  Same thing for loving.  This includes sending love to people we hate or resent.  Healthy?  Is that something we can control?  Well, we can certainly start where we are, and imagine ourselves to be!  We can fake it until we make it, so as to speak.  We can look at our behaviours like eating, etc., and ask ourselves if this is how a healthy person stays healthy or not.  We can give thanks because we're healing right now.  Fairness and honesty, again with ourselves and others.  REALLY honest, not just what you think others might like to hear, but become honest at a gut level and develop imtegrity and strength in this way.  Strength, next on the list.  Doing the right things makes you strong.  Security will also come, but foster it by reaffirming and stepping out in your faith.  Positive.  There's always Good you can focus your attention on instead of apparent lack that may be fooling you into thinking that all is not right in your world.  Give thanks and you'll see there is always a reason to be grateful you are alive!  Compassion to all, even the animals who go through so much at the hands of humans.  Generous, realizing and giving thanks that your own needs are always supplied.  Optimism reminds us that we are continually progressing on our spiritual path and that things will continually get better for us and the world as we grow in our understanding of Love.    To be even-tempered, light-hearted, happy and fulfilled will be the result of all this.  Allow yourself to start feeling those feelings now!

We don't expect people to not make mistakes at Essentials of Life Holistic Enrichment Center,  but we do hope to offer a place to celebrate the best we can be.

We talk a lot about healing and how simple it is.  Yes it is simple to heal the way God intended, but we know it is not always easy, and we all have hurts and imbalances that we need to heal.  We're here to help you learn how and to encourage you in your quest for health.  If we seem unsympathetic, we're not.  What we are doing is reprogramming our minds for good health, and giving our body what is required to heal on its own. the whole time acknowledging God's perfect presence in us.  The True Spirit of God can't be sick, and it lives in us.  The more we focus on this, the more we bring it to the forefront of who we are.  This is why we look for solutions, knowing they're there, rather than allowing ourselves to stay stuck in sickness and pain by focusing on the problem instead of on health.

We have to start believing we can be well before it will manifest for us in our life.  We also have to focus on finding solutions and on doing whatever we can.  We have no time to complain, and to do so pulls us further into the false-belief that we are truly ill.  Illness is an illusion....it's an experience we're going through, not WHO we are.  Our true identity lies in the fact that we're created in the Perfect image of God.  We realize this can be hard, but until we see our true nature we will continue to think we "are" sick.  Sickness is an experience we're meant to grow through, not cling to.  Don't put negative words on your "I am!"  Instead, try affirmations, such as "I am healing right now!"

At church we don't smoke, we don't drink, we don't curse, we don't gossip...and hopefully we don't do those things either, at home.  At our church, we also do not eat meat or use products created through violence.  We're not saying everyone has to be vegan to be part of our group, but we're holding a standard out that this is the most compassionate way you can eat, and also the healthiest way.  We do not use animal products in our soaps, ointments, foods, herbal tinctures, etc., that we make and use here in our groups.  In the instance of coffee, we do have a coffee maker, but only fair trade coffee at church, to help us become aware of the slave trade that's going on in the name of regular coffee production.  In other words, we work to increase our awareness and hold ourselves as a church to the highest standards that we know how to do.

So, yes, people who come to our church are fallible, and we accept that.  We, as ministers, are fallible, too.  Please do not put me or any of us on a pedestal, or imagine that we're trying to say that we've overcome all adversity, temptation and challenge, for this is not at all the case.  We're simply asking that while we are gathered together that we do our best to take a good look at what we could be doing to increase our awareness of God's perfection in us and in our everyday lives.

So, everyone IS welcome here!  YES!  We don't care what you believe insofar as the particulars of religion, politics, lifestyle, etc., or what your background, race, sexual orientation or anything else is concerned.  You will not be thrown out of the church for breaking laws, man-made or God-made, and you will not be judged for your choices in what you eat, what you drink, what medical choices you make or anything else.  We wish to view everyone with respect, without judgment, gossip or blame.  We will, however, ask that while you are here, you refrain from certain behaviors, such as lying, cheating, stealing, smoking, engaging in illegal behavior, gossiping, cursing and having a general overall negative attitude.  We ask that a respect for life be shown and a willingness to increase our group awareness of the Presence of God.

Isn't this what we want when we ask for others to give us support?  Don't we want support in being lifted to God?  So when we pray, we see the best in the person we're praying for, and when we are together, we see the best in ourselves and each other, as well.  Our relationships with each other become in this way as a prayer.  That's what we want as a church!

We are creating a sacred space here with each other.  A space where we can become more acquainted with our Higher Selves...with God...with Oneness, Peace, Harmony, Love.   Create a sacred space, too, in your home, in your body, in your heart.  Wherever we are, God IS.

Have a wonder-filled week!

When I think of the word, "Mother," many things come into my mind.  My own sweet mother, of course, who to me, will always be the perfect embodiment of motherhood.  I think, too, of myself, for I am the mother of three, the step-mother of three more, and a grandmother to two little ones now.

I think of mothers all over the world.  There is probably no image so sweet to anyone anywhere than the image of their mother's face.  Generally speaking, of course, because some people aren't lucky enough to be with their mother, or perhaps their mother hasn't been much of a mother to them.

What does it mean, "to be a mother?"  Isn't having children enough?  Well, yes, and we all do the best that we can at the time, I am sure.  But to "BE" a mother, to me, goes back to the thought of embodying a certain idea.  What is it that a true mother is?

Nurturing, caring, teaching, feeding, loving, comforting, encouraging, supporting...these are words that come to mind when thinking of what the word, "mother" means.  Aren't these all things anybody can do, regardless of whether or not they gave birth?

We all have a mother inside of us.  It's part of who we actually are.  The Mother is the Eternal Mother...the feminine aspects of God...the yin to the yang, so to speak.

So, God is nurturing.  I am nurturing.  I am created in the image and likeness of God.  God is Love, so naturally God is caring and loving, and so are we.  It is natural for us to teach, feed, encourage, support, etc., because that is who we naturally are.  We are created in the image of Love.

When we find that we are not receiving these things in our life, look at whether or not we are in fact giving them, for it is in giving that we receive.  We may think we are too weak to give.  There is always strength in giving love, so start there.  Sometimes a good place to start is by giving love to yourself.  You have a little child inside of you who needs a mother's kind love.  That's the way to approach loving yourself.  Then you can extend that love outward to others, as well.

This does not mean to give in to your every whim by giving yourself a misguided love!  A mother's love is wise.  Give this type of love to yourself.  A mother looks out for the best of her children.  Look out for your best interests, not simply instant gratification and what feels good in the moment, but rather what will help to carry you through.

Allow your inner Mother to teach you what's right from what's wrong.  Find the place of peace inside of yourself where you can feel safe in your "mother's" arms, and let her teach you, guide you, and comfort you.  Learn to know the sound of her voice.  Rest in the comfort of absolute love.  There is Peace in your Mother's arms.  There is Strength.  There is Wisdom and Truth.  Your Mother would never lie or hurt you in any way.  Learn to trust this voice in yourself.

Let your inner Mother decide how you should eat.  Not necessarily the same as your earthly mother, although I am sure that she tried, but rather look to what's provided in nature to eat, for the Spirit of Mother is certainly there!  We know her as Mother Earth!  Mother Earth gave us LIFE.  We are created in her image, as well as the spiritual attributes we recognize as God.  Our chemical make up...our physical body...is made up of the elements of Earth, such as water, minerals, etc.  We are in complete harmony with the environments, as much so as a baby is at home in its mother's womb.

So on Mother's Day, yes, think of your own mother with love and express this love in some meaningful way.  And if you are fortunate to have your own children, then give thanks for the opportunity to experience the bliss of being a mother.  It is an honor, indeed!  But mostly think of your own Mother inside you...the Mother who guides you and comforts you and loves you whenever you turn within.  Express these motherly qualities in your own life, towards yourself and outward to heal the whole world!  There's nothing quite as healing as a mother's love!  Give that gift to the world.  (You KNOW your Mother would tell you to play nice and be kind!!)

Think, too, of Mother Earth, for this is also a part of who you are.  You are not only your body, but you do have a body.  Turn to the Mother to feed and be in harmony with your natural surroundings for physical health. Your Mother will not let you down!  It is Her nature to LOVE!

Happy Mother's Day to all...

"Give Folk Medicine Back to the Folks!"  This is one of our favorite slogans here at the Essentials of Life Holistic Enrichment Center.  It's more than a slogan, in fact; it's one of our primary goals!

The classes we teach here are practical.  We teach how to use natural elements, such as plants, water, air, and natural abilities like laughter, love, touch, creativity and more, to assist us in our healing journey, bringing about the natural health we were created to have.  We were made to live and live well!  We were created in the image and likeness of God, and the planet we're on is perfectly designed to support life on this planet.  Otherwise we'd all be extinct!

Modern medicine has only been around for a very short time in the big scheme of things, but we've somehow, as a society, come to the conclusion that it's an integral part of our survival.  Then how did we survive so many years before it all came around?

The history of medicine is a quite interesting study.  When considering the idea that history repeats itself, some areas are well worth the time, and I should think anything dealing with health and survival would be somewhere near the top of the list.  But sadly and strangely enough, the history of sports or of wars or of automobiles, or even sewing machines, seems to be higher on a lot of folks' minds.

I'm not talking about the history of modern medicine, as presented by interested parties to the mega-billion dollar industry that modern medicine has recently become.  I'm talking about the history of medicine as it goes way back in time, to where the first time chemical medicine entered the scene, and exactly how it came into the power that it has today.  Money is power, they say.  But they also say that the love of it is the root of all evil.  Let's put that question aside for a moment, but we will examine it more before we are through.

In the beginning, when all was created, we are told through many sources that all was created as good.  Do we believe this?  No matter what else you may believe, ask yourself if you believe this  basic premise or not.  Do you believe that the earth, the universe, and everything in it has a basic design of perfection, in that each part is perfectly designed to function in a manner which is inherently beneficial to the the good of all?  This is the basic premise of the continuation of life.  Do you believe life is random or do you believe that there is a Higher Order in place?

Or how about this...Do you believe that the laws of nature apply to you in your life?  To believe that they don't is like believing that the planets just magically don't routinely bang into each other.  Surely we all know there is some sort of reason, call it scientific or call it Divine, but there is SOME sort of reason they don't!  Just as there is some sort of reason why when a sperm and an egg join together a whole entire human is born, or another creature like to it's own kind.  There is order in the world of nature, and we are a part of all that.  So why when we think of our health do we think it is somehow strange to look to nature for the answers to the secrets of life?  This defies neither science nor God!  God is seen as Creator, and science verifies that life is GOOD!!

So, to look at the history, let's start with the idea of all being good.  Then something happened.  What was it?  The knowledge of good AND evil was chosen through our free will, and that's when sickness began.  We were given perfection and we thought we could do better than that.  We defied the laws of nature and God and sickness began and has continued since then.

Well, God being the Good that God is gave us a perfect world in which to live.  We messed a lot of it up, and we're messing it up in recent times worse than it's ever been messed.  We've polluted it, stripped it of many natural resources, and we've all but destroyed natural balance on this marvelous, perfectly designed planet of ours.

We, as the human race, have collectively turned love into hate in so many instances, as well as plentiful and bountiful supply for us all into unadulterated greed, throwing so many into an utter state of poverty and lack.  We've learned to steal, lie, cheat, kill, rape, adulterate, betray, torture, embezzle, enslave, batter, deprive, imprison and otherwise mistreat ourselves, our fellow humans and fellow creatures on a daily basis, to one degree or the next.  Is there anyone of us who has not lied to ourselves at least a little today?  We may think that we haven't, but if we've told ourselves that we're anything less than a Perfect and Whole expression of God, then we have.  That's where the trouble begins.  The knowledge of good and evil.  We would do so much better to simple accept all as Good!

So, back to the history lesson, people began getting sick, but there was still goodness in us, and the inherent gifts of healing available to use.  We had the gifts of the earth and sky, such as the plants, the air, the sunshine, the rain and the magnetic force.  We had other gifts, too, such as the power of love, and of laughter, and the ability to respond in a creative manner to what comes our way.  We were created in the image of the Creative Force of all Life!  Creativity comes naturally to us.

ALL of healing comes naturally to us!  It is our nature to heal!  Our bodies have an amazing power to regenerate.  Have you ever noticed how a cut heals on its own?  The body KNOWS how to heal.  We were created in the image of God, and God is Life.  We were created in the image of LIFE, therefore we know how to heal.  What does a flower bulb do when you take a shovel and cut into it?  It causes the tree to flower more, or the roots to spread, because it has a natural healing response.  So do we.

No, we can't overcome everything.  Not with the limits we have placed on our own minds, anyway.  We could if we realized the Power given to us for healing, but we have to overcome the sins of our fathers, so as to speak, and overcome all the lies through the years.  Where did they start?  They started with wanted to do better than that which was already perfect and good.  We wanted to know what the knowledge of evil would bring.

So what is evil?  Evil to my way of thinking is greed.  As mentioned before, it is said that the love of money is the root of all evil.  Well, money hasn't always existed, but the idea of wanting more than our share has been around for a very long time.  Someone wants someone's wife, or their land, or their mule, or their car, and it's on.  People with tons of money have been in power for ages and ages and many have been much less than kind in their desire to rule the whole world.  The money is not the problem, the problem is the love of money over the love of God.  God is Life.  God is Love.  God is Good.  Placing personal wealth over the Love of Life, Love and Goodness is where the evil begins.

So, why are we talking about evil and the love of money and all of this when the topic at hand is Giving Folk Medicine Back to the Folks?  Well, we saw where sickness started, and then after that there were good-hearted people who shared love, prayer, and healing knowledge freely with one another, and this is what Folk Medicine is!  It's when professionalism and trying to monopolize and profit from the practice of healing for personal gain rather than the common good that medicine became expensive and out of reach in the first place.  It's also where the side effects began to appear, and the suppression of our healing heritage and right to practice healing each other without license by state government authorities and such.

At first it was the Church that controlled medical practice.  The Church, in fact, was actually one with the State.  Separation of Church and State are very important to freedom, and at Essentials of Life Holistic Enrichment Center, we're very grateful for that.   May we all work together to preserve this freedom, and not take for granted that it can be taken away.

But back to the message at hand, the Church, the State, the local powers that be, began dictating who could and could not engage in the practice of medicine, upon threat of imprisonment or even death.  In the early days, the penalty of death was often imposed for such a crime.  In fact, Galileo himself is said to have come up against the threat of death on this issue, but his life was bargained for, and that's where the birth of chemical medicine began.  The men of medicine (not women at that time!  Women were commonly burned at the stake as witches if they practiced the healing arts!) were permitted to practice medicine so long as they left the Spirit out of the picture and treated the body instead like a machine with no regard to the Life Force at all.  So the goal of medicine became one of over-powering the body through artificial means, rather than working with the Life Force and the body's natural inclination to heal.

To add to this scenario, there was also the motivation for profit.  As mentioned above, so-called "witches" were burned at the stake, and nature was put underground, if you'll pardon the pun.  Medical schools were very expensive, and medical terminology was quite complex, being based in Latin and over-complicating the idea of health.   They took the goodness of whole herbs and chemically extracted only the components they wanted, and then they concentrated the doses of such and added artificial ingredients in, all of which created side-effects which were not originally there for the sake of a patent and big profit and monopolization and greed.

What I have come to realize is that God, through nature, made the medicine like it should have been in the first place, perfect and whole, for our good with no side effects.  The only problem with herbs is we don't know how to use them.  That's what we're talking about!  Herbs and the other plants were put here as our food and medicine, and we've forgotten completely how to use them it seems!  Same thing with other healing elements, such as laughter, love, air, aroma, sound, color, fresh air and lots of clean water!!!

Why on earth do we, as a society, leave the concept of healing and the practice of medicine to those only trained in what they are trained in, and why do we not realize the power to heal is within us all?  There is example after example throughout ALL of history of the practice of healing being suppressed...even to the point of death.  Are many not dying today?  Maybe no one is being put to death, but many are dying at the hands of those who claim to know what is best.  What if we choose something else?  Are we allowed?  We better not take it for granted, because we can easily lose this right once again.  History does indeed tend to repeat.

We have, right now, the right to learn, and we should, if we are to survive as individuals and as a race.  To me, survival means moving ahead.  To stay stuck in one spot in my mind is to die.  We need to move forward but not forget the past.  We are doomed to repeat that which we do not recall and use for our common good.  We're here together to learn.

Life is tough.  There are many obstacles and seeming disruptions to good.  Our challenge is to use everything we have for good, and to thereby recognize the worth in all.  We are all on the same team, sharing the same planet together.  This is the attitude we all need to embrace.

Meanwhile, people cheat in the game and some try to take the whole playing board for themselves.  Some people quit, some drop out for awhile and come back, and some people just plain don't follow the rules.  All you can do is to play the absolute best that you can if you want your team to win, and winning is survival for all.  Remember, there's only one team.

That being said, we need to put all of the fear and the advertising that plays on our fear to the side.  Forget the diagnoses, the prognoses, the statistics, and everything scary for just a minute and think for yourself for a minute.  Look at what the modern medical system has become.  Is it simple?  Does it seem Godly to you?  Have we perhaps given our God-given power away?

People standing in lines for medical treatment.
People stuck in waiting rooms for hours and hours, being asked the same questions again and again.
People losing their homes to pay medical bills.
Insurance dictating medical treatment available.
People being told they have to do this or that.
People being told they have so long to live.
People dying from side effects.
People dying from medical error.
People dying from infections contracted in medical institutions.
People being told they have to take certain medications for the rest of their lives.
People having organs cut out routinely.
Animals being maimed, tortured and killed by the millions in order that research be done.
Underpaid aides, understaffed nursing homes, and children on mind-altering drugs.
More and worse things than these.

In the beginning, all was created as good.  What have we done?  Shouldn't we get back to all that?ee

Today the common idea of healing is that Vitamin C comes in a pack of artificially colored and flavored packet of refined sugar or else chemically formulated artificial sweetening agent...all of which are very suspect by the own horrific animal experiments of being extremely detrimental to mind chemistry and other bodily functions for our well-being and good.  The fact that it contains a synthetic version of Vitamin C is only of worse consequence, because it lies to the common folks who believe what they read and who blindly also believe that if it were bad for you it couldn't be sold.  The fact is that Vitamin C and all the other vitamins come best directly from FOOD, with plants and herbs being our food.

Healing is natural.  Healing is free.  Healing is built into our cells.  We were placed in an environment perfectly suited to meet our healing needs.  We intuitive know how to heal.  Healing occurs for millions and millions and millions of people each day without chemical drugs.  These are not included in the statitistics.  The statistics are slanted to show different things for the purpose of showing what is profitable to show.  Keep in mind, they want us dependent on them.  The medical industry is the #1 money manking industry in the U.S. and most likely in the whole world.  If not medicine, then surely war.  Are the two so different and apart?  The cancer industry, specifically, is the top dollar industry in the U.S.  How badly do you think they want a cure?  The cures exist as close as right under our feet.  There are countless cures, and they're all within our own reach.

It's time to Give Folk Medicine Back to the Folks.  That's what we're trying to do at Essentials of Life Holistic Enrichment Center.  We believe God meant for healing to be free and available to all.  We can heal with the plants, with the food, with the aromas, with laughter, with tears, with love, with prayer, with touch, with creativity, with color, with sound, with movement, with rest, with water and sooooooooooo many things!  God is the Source of all Life!  God IS Life!  God is Love!  God is Good!  So why would God not want us to heal?  Healing is natural to us!  We were created in the image and likeness of God.

This modern day reliance on chemical medicine and medical doctors with their big words is just astounding when you step back and look.  It was only as far back as 1938 when the last botanical medical school was shut down in the U.S.  It was in Cincinnati, Ohio.  The botanical schools used to exist and the only reason that today they do not is because choice was taken away by big dollars and a monopoly was created.  That's all.  It had nothing to do with what works, but with profit.  The history is rich if you pursue the true facts of the story.  It is a story which has repeated itself again and again.  Yet how do you forever subdue the natural gifts of healing granted to us since the beginning of time?  The methods of doing such are quite intense, more so than perhaps we might think.

Quite frankly, we brainwashed and drugged.  We're drugged from the first time we're given a sip of fluoridated water, or when they put refined sugar into our bottle in some form or another, or inoculate u with substances foreign to us.  We're brainwashed from the first time we turn on the TV, or look at a magazine ad.  That might seem extreme, but add to that the idea that our parents have all been brainwashed for years, so it takes easy to us.

I encourage you all to think for yourself, and ask yourself, as a believer in the very first question I made at the beginning of this whole rant...which you must be, or else you would not be reading still...whether or not this makes any sense?  They read the side effects aloud in the ads, but people just seem to ignore them and then not even consider they have a choice when the side effects indeed do occur.  What they don't read is crammed in tiny letters onto a paper all folded up a mile long into a little box that gets thrown away when the package is opened, most times.  Then warnings aren't heeded, and natural methods such as drinking more water, eating more quality whole living plant foods and getting proper exercise and rest just fall to the side.

Think of this, too, when thinking of your independence and freedom to be who you were created to be...What if the system fails?  The system fails all the time, to this person or that.  I know many, many people personally, including myself, whom it has failed at one time or another.  Otentimes this failure results in death, but sometimes only minor problems occur.  The question is, though, more to the point, what if the whole system fails?  What if the worst thing imaginable happens and there is an emergency situation at hand.  What if you couldn't get to where there was medical treatment available, or what if the supplies all ran out?  How independent would you be at that moment in time?  What would be your ability to survive?

Learn to use the plants, I implore you.  They can accomplish so much!  The right plant can stop you from bleeding to death.  Yarrow is such an herb.  I've used yarrow before to save my own life.  Soldiers lives have even been saved by the use of this herb on the battlefield.  It can help with everything from gunshots to nosebleeds.  Why would anyone not want to know of this herb?

That is only just one example.  There are millions and millions and millions more examples of herbs and other natural elements that can save your life.  I don't know anywhere near as much about this as I want to know, and I've been studying for years!  The one thing through all my studies I've learned, though, is that the answer is always there, and it is always readily at hand.  Prayer, for instance, when properly applied, can most certainly save someone's life.  When I say properly applied, I say that, because prayer is not meant to change the will of God, for the will of God is always Good, but rather it is to change our awareness of this and our level of willingness to comply.  It is like this in all healing  We need to be aware of our innate ability to heal and then be willing to apply this inner awareness in practical ways in our life.

Practicality is at the heart of healing.  If it's not practical, then what good is any of it?  Healing is meant to be simple, practical and available to all.  The most practical healing is that we can do for ourselves and our loved ones.  The kindest thing we can do is to help others in achieving this goal.  Healing is as simple as knowing where to place your hand on your body and how to direct the Healing Energy of God through the mind.  This is the proper use of the will,m in aligning our will with the Will of God, which is healing of the mind, body and spirit of all.

Healing happens in so many ways when we open ourselves to the Healing Energy present in all of Life.  It's in our body, our mind and our heart, and it's in every living atom of life.  Cling to life, and it will cling to you.  Natural healing is Life Medicine.  It cannot be conveyed through that which does not promote life.  There is no life in artificial medicine.  That's why it's artificial.  It's fake.  It is so easy to see even by definition, that natural is natural and fake is fake!  Common sense doesn't seem so common these days.

LET'S MAKE COMMON SENSE COMMON AGAIN AND GIVE FOLK MEDICINE BACK TO THE FOLKS!

Let's share traditions and knowledge with one another, and let's work together, as One, in healing the world!  God's will for the world is to LIVE in Goodness and Love!

If you're in the area, please RSVP to come to any of our events we've got going on, or suggest a relevant program to us!  We'd love to have you add your energy in!  If you're not in the area, feel free to join in with our energy from far away.  You're welcome to write anytime!  The easiest way to do that right now is through our Facebook Page at www.facebook.com/eolhec.  You can also find our events there, along with photos and lots of great things that we've shared.  Please take a scroll down our page.

Blessings in your healing pursuit,

Following is the Preamble to our Constitution, followed by a few words and many thanks to those who have helped along the way in bringing this vision forth.  There are too many to name every one, but we have compiled a list of quite a few of our supporters and friends.

Our Dedication Celebration and Barn Party Weekend is being held the weekend of April 26-28.  You can find the schedule at www.facebook.com/eolhec/events.  Anyone who is in the area is invited to join us for this special weekend, commemorating our commitment to sharing God's healing gifts.

For those not able to attend in person, we thank you for joining us here in print. We will post wonderful pictures next week, after the celebration is done!  In the meanwhile, we are sending our love to you all.

*****

With the purpose of expanding our understanding of God’s healing Power and of applying this understanding toward healing ourselves and the world, we join together as an interfaith church.

Holding religious freedom as sacred, we are committed to no doctrinal test of membership other than the desire to "Do that which is right.”

Our common thread is our belief in the Healing Power inherent in all of life.  We refer to this Power as God, taking care not to infringe upon anyone’s right to view God in accordance to their own individual beliefs.

We worship together in the Spirit of Truth, Love and Harmony.  We welcome into our fellowship all peaceful seekers of Wisdom and Light.

We open ourselves to the ever-unfolding awareness of the presence of God in all aspects of life.

In humility and gratitude, we accept the responsibility of promoting the well-being of all.  We support each other in this healing initiative.  We dedicate our efforts to this sacred cause.

*****
What does this mean?  This means we are cheerfully and diligently accepting the calling to share with the world the awareness of God's healing gifts.  This means we are to share our hearts, our minds, our efforts.  This means we are offering ourselves as open-channels for God's healing work, understanding always that God is Love, God is Life, God is Good.  In this belief we understand that God's will for us is always good, and that all of our needs are abundantly provided for through the Love and Grace of a merciful Power much greater than our own limited thinking could ever conceive.  This Power is Life.  It is in us and in all of nature.  This Power is available and active in us every moment that we are alive.  Remember, this Power is always Good...Always Love.

Breathe......Think about that thought for a moment.  Always Love and Goodness in you, supplying all of your needs...this Power running through all of nature.  The only time things go wrong is when we intercede through the improper use of free will, and mess it up for us and/or  someone else.  Everyone is not to blame.  It is a sickness that runs through this world.  BUT what we are here to help each other to learn is that the Power for Good is still LIVING in each of us NOW!

Essentials of Life Holistic Enrichment Center is here to help in the effort of healing the world, by reminding us that we're ALL meant to be healers!  We are created in the Perfect image of God!

Our bodies are perfectly and intricately designed in the most incredible manner...to LIVE!  And the earth and the air and the water...all perfect matches to what we need...to LIVE!  Everything is set up for us to live, and to live very well.  We have the perfect food for out bodies given to us in the form of herbs, seeds, nuts, fruits, vegetables, whole grains...all for free, and all capable of replenishing itself!  The system is GOOD, as is God!

Our minds are likewise perfectly designed to carry forth our commands and to reason with others, creating our own little world in this big world of us all.  Our minds are extremely powerful, and capable of so many things, as history and science have shown.  We are capable of much, much more than we currently use our minds to do.  Our mind is our conscious link with the Mind of God...the All-Knowing Universe...and it is only limited by our ability to open it up to the Source of all Good, Life and Love.  Through the proper use of the mind, we surely, surely can heal.

Spirit is where we turn for our guidance, in knowing how to find the proper balance of body and mind.  Spirit is the leader, always, of the three aspects of being, for this aspect is the essence of us which is eternal.  Spirit is housed in a physical body and served and/or limited by the mind of man, but Spirit is our direct link with Love, and Love is the greatest healer of all.  God in us is made active through Love.

For true healing to occur, it must be based in the spirit, agreed to by the mind, and carried forth in the body.  For this reason we form as a Church, ever reminding us in holistic practice to place Love as the highest value and guide.

In the spirit of Love, we wish to offer practical solutions to healing challenges.  We wish to facilitate the process of bringing the healer in each of us out.  We wish to provide an environment conducive to mutual learning, always centered in faith and in love.  We, as individuals all have our shortcomings and difficulties, but as a group, we can lift each other up, seeing the good in each other and in ourselves and the rest of the world.

******
THANK YOU, from Dr. Jody Evans, on behalf of Essentials of Life Holistic Enrichment Center, to all the people who have helped in bringing this vision forth into manifestation.

Thanks to my mother, Frances Eshelman, for inspiring me, teaching me, leading the way, believing in me, listening to me, trusting me in her healing journey, and always, always giving me unconditional love.

Thanks, too, to my father, Ronald Eshelman, for giving me roots, and for teaching me good basic values.   I’m grateful  for his example of giving back to the community, and not only being a seeker, but also an assistant and leader in the quest for Truth and Righteousness sake.

Thank you to the rest of my family and all of friends, for giving me love and support through the years, and mostly to my husband, Dean Evans, who stands by my side in this work and gives substance to so many dreams.  We would not be joining together in this place today if not for him.

Thank you, mostly to God, for abundantly and graciously providing for all our needs, to the following people and also to the countless participants, readers, helpers, leaders, teachers, volunteers, group members and others who have shared their presence with us!

Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.  It starts with my own peace of mind, with recognizing and appreciating the peace which lies still in us all, and with expressing love to the world, because with love, there we find peace.

Peace implies a sense of "all-rightness."  It happens when we release our idea of what we think ought to be and embrace the idea of what is.  Acceptance and gratitude are integral parts of the experience of peace.  It occurs not only when we stop fighting, but when we actually realize that we are blessed.

Peace comes with honesty.  When we feel the need to lie to ourselves or to others, acceptance of the TRUTH is not in place, and we are still fighting the reality of whatever it is that we cannot honestly face.

Peace comes with treating each other with love and respect.  This also goes for ourselves.  We have to love and respect ourselves first before we can give it to somebody else.  That's a lot of why peace always must begin first with me.  If we are fighting with our own thoughts and feelings and are unable to forgive ourselves for the mistakes that we make, then how can we forgive someone else?

Peace comes in stillness.  Meditation is one way to bring inner peace to our mind.  Just "be" in this moment in time.  Go out into nature and just listen to the sound of the birds, the insects, the frogs, the leaves and grasses as they blow in the breeze.  Feel the sun on your face.  Relax and know you are a part of it all.  You are the same as the bug on the blade of grass next to you...living together in this environment we all call our home.

Make choices in your life that will bring you peace.  If you know something's not right, then don't do it!  To act against what you know is the right thing to do is to bring guilt and remorse to your soul.  These are in congruent with peace.

Think peaceful thoughts of acceptance towards others.  Stop yourself when you start to criticize others (and of course yourself) and send a blessing instead.  Forgiveness goes a long way to creating peace in the world.  Forgiveness doesn't imply that someone who has wronged you is right.  It means that you are "giving for."

Find peace in your breathing.  Take time to notice your breathing pattern.  Do you breathe slowly and deeply, exhaling completely?  To focus on your breathing will help you learn peace.  When your body and brain do not get the proper oxygen balance a slight panic occurs all through your system.  Breathing techniques have been used in meditation since the beginning of time.  Through conscious effort to focus on breathing, we can bring other bodily functions back into balance and we can also give our body its proper rest.

Good health is the natural result of peace in our body, with everything working together the way that it should.  Peaceful living, eating, sleeping, thinking, loving, breathing...these things bring harmony and balance about.  Forcing the body with drugs creates conflict inside.  Drugs force the body to behave in a particular way, taking control of the natural bodily functions instead of supporting the body in healing itself.  Offering support to the body in the way of nourishment, herbs, exercise, rest, etc., restores natural balance and health instead of just fighting the symptoms.

Are we peaceful in our outlook towards politics?  It's easy to get very enraged when we are controlled as a nation by influences acting in a manner contrary to what we believe in.  Peace does not mean to lie down and take it, but it does mean to not just continue bickering on and on with each other.  To do so is to allow those influences to further control us.  Becoming peacefully engaged in social change is not contrary to peace.  Hating, blaming and resenting is.  Pray for those in power to become enlightened, give thanks for whatever role for good they are playing, and work peacefully toward the end of helping others to see the truth in a non-threatening way.

Making peace with our environment is also important.  How can we have peace in our mind and body if we are fighting against our own nature?  Yes, OUR nature!  We are a part of all of nature, so to hurt any of it, is to hurt us.  When we squander our resources, we waste that which is there to support us.  "RE-sources" implies that we should be able to RE-turn to the source again and again, but if we have squandered them, then where are we to turn?  Frantically searching for a replacement for that which was created perfect for us then destroyed does not bring images of peace to my mind!  Knowing our needs are abundantly fulfilled, on the other hand, does.  The earth was created to support life on earth.  Otherwise we'd have been extinct long ago!  Find peace in trusting the earth.

Make peace with life.  ALL life!  Make peace with your fellow-creatures and think about how they are treated and your part in it all.  Are you a participant in the torture that is being inflicted on many of them?  Would you consider yourself a peaceful person if you routinely killed dogs or cats?  Then what makes it different with chickens, cows, pigs, lambs, fish, rabbits, monkeys, minks, foxes, elephants, seals, deer, mice and others who are routinely tortured and/or killed for our....pleasure?  What else would you call it?

We certainly can find ways to eat without killing.  That has been proven time and again by the millions of vegans worldwide.  As a matter of fact, it is known to be the healthier way for us to eat.  So the violence displayed routinely on dinner plates is nothing but violence to please the senses.  That's all.  And what of furs?  Leather jackets?  Wool?  Are we not warm without them?  They are purely for vanity's sake.  How can this be justified in a world of peace?  It cannot.  Neither can it be justified to use animals in laboratories, testing cosmetics...and yes...even drug testing is an unnecessary cruelty inflicted on them.  Natural cures are superior and do not need animals to die in order for us to live, and also there are superior ways for medical testing to be performed.  Animal testing performed today is to avoid the cost of implementing a new system.  It has nothing to do with efficacy, just monetary investment, that's all.

Choices we make every day affect lives.  For us to ignore this and cry out for peace does not make any sense.  Are will willing to pay the price for peace?  The price is that we, ourselves, must stop being selfish and cruel.  It is not enough that we expect the government to set standards which promote peace in our everyday lives.  It's up to us.  Face it.  There's a lot of ugly, horrible, violent, cruel things going on in the world, and the government and most of the people turn a blind eye.  There will never truly be peace anywhere as long as there is violence being ignored.  There are many, many cultural practices which involve cruelty.  For instance, how was your morning cup of coffee produced?  Was it fair trade?  If not, then most likely, the equivalent of child slavery was involved in that cup.  I ask you, do you think that child is at peace knowing you paid a little bit less?  Peace comes with doing the absolute best that you can.  Otherwise you can't sleep at night, unless you ignore it all and then live in a state of unawareness.  Afterall, ignorance is bliss, so they say.  But there is a much greater bliss in true peace.

Peace occurs when we think of the bigger picture to that which is beyond our senses and our desire for more than our share.  Peace comes with the contentment of knowing all our needs are fulfilled without harming each other.  It's when we get into stealing, hurting, lying, cheating, arrogance, avoidance and worrying that we lose our peace.  Peace is based in faith, not in fear.   It is based in love, not in indifference or hate.  Ignoring the truth will not bring it about, but rather living in the Truth of our Oneness with All.

This may sound hard to the human mind, but in the mind of God, Love is ALL that there is.  You will find the peace  that passes all understanding when you focus on the goodness and love, within and without, all around, running through all of life.

How are you creating peace in your life today?  Take this one day to examine your thoughts...are they loving?  Are they based in faith?  Are they forgiving?  Take time today to relax and reflect upon the goodness and plenty of life.  Just for today.  Live in just this one day, today.  Take this opportunity today, as well, to think about the choices you make on your dinner plate, in your closet, in your medicine chest...are they reflective of peace?  Look, too, at your relationship with the person you see in the mirror.  Make peace with that person first!  Now, look to those whom you fear, despise, resent, or just plain don't like.  Can you say a prayer for them, too?  Anything less will only take away from the peace of the world.  Peace only will come through lifting each other and ourselves up into the Light of Love.  It's up to each of us now.

xoxo,

Resurrection of the Spirit Each Day!  Rise up again and again and again!  That's what forgiveness is all about.  We were created in the image and likeness of God...Perfect and whole in every way.  It is only due to the misuse of the gift of free will that we are not demonstrating that perfection in every aspect of this life we have co-created with God.  God gives us LIFE! (God IS Perfect Life!) We give ourselves the quality of life we desire and deep down believe we deserve, but never quite up to perfection, it seems.

We need to realize our birthright and forgive ourselves for the human aspect of life.  We have the sins of our earthly fathers to bear, and many, many years of history made and written by those before us who had their own agendas in mind, and their own lack of remembering who they truly were, either.  We seem to be an entire race with amnesia, because people sure have forgotten how to live well, as we were created to live.  The limits we put on ourselves are so strict and so limiting, it's a wonder we're able to tie our own shoes!  We are created in the image and likeness of God, and we have the Power within us to do ANYTHING...so long as we remain fully centered in Love.  (God is Love.)

Okay, so back to the idea of rising up...again and again and again.  It has to do with forgiving ourselves for not always living up to our full potential, but rising up again each time we fall and trying to glorify the God in our soul.  It is forgiving 70x7 and more.  It's not letting anything get us so far down that we forget even more who we are!

Sometimes life can be very painful.  We all have our hardships and challenges to face.  We live in a world full of very frightened and confused people who hurt each other and make big mistakes than ultimately do hurt us all.  But we all have to remember...each of us...me and you...that all of these people...some doing terrible things...are all children of God...created in the image and likeness of God...and the best thing we can do to help in these situations is to forgive and forgive and forgive...not to get them off the hook, but to help raise their consciousness up by inwardly acknowledging and calling forth their Power for Good.  (God is Good.)  This applies to people who hurt us directly and also to those who may rule the world.  We need to remember that the Ultimate Power is ALWAYS for Good, and we need to align our minds with that rather than lamenting the limitations and thereby giving power to the negative side.  Pray for those whom you resent, dislike and especially those whom you loathe.  Rise up and don't stay in the gutter of hatred and pain.

Yes, life can be difficult, and often is.  We may have sickness and pain that we have to live with.  How can we rise up over things which we seem to have no control?  It takes an open mind and constant prayers of reminding yourself that you are created in the image and likeness of God!  It also takes a willingness to do what it takes and then following up with the action that you need to take.  It takes a lot of guts and hard work!  But to rise up means to apply the principles you learn along the way which seem applicable and to do the best that you can, knowing that tomorrow you will learn to do better and then you will move along the path one more step.  You keep walking along the path that you have determined to be your best path, always praying when you come to a fork in the road and following your inner guidance as to which way to proceed.  Don't simply follow the crowd!  Rising up means to allow your inner voice to rise up and be heard!

In my own life there have been many, many things I've had to rise up against.  I could have stayed stuck in self-pity, and at times I still indulge, but it's foolish!  Self-pity will just keep us down!  So what to do when awful things happen?  Rise up!  Turn it over to God and move your feet in the direction of the Solution real quick!  Make changes in your life that need to be made to protect yourself from undesired things happening again, instead of just crying because it wasn't your fault!  Whatever the problem is!  I've been beaten, disabled, robbed, raped, hospitalized, forcefully drugged, impoverished, addicted, sick, injured, traumatized, abandoned, lied to, cheated on, fired, abused, arrested, mistreated and misunderstood.  My degree of responsibility in these things can be debated, I guess.  Sometimes I was completely the victim, other times it was being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and sometimes it was asking for trouble or making the wrong choices in life.  But it really doesn't matter the apparent cause, the truth is that we all bear the responsibility for our own life, because we are the ones who have to live with the way we "respond."  (And isn't that what "response-ability" implies?)

We can make excuses or we can forgive ourselves and others and God (aka Life) and rise up to do better next time, vowing not let anything in the world keep us down!  We are created in the image and likeness of God!  Let's learn to live how God would have us to live!  Then we will manifest our true nature, in body, mind and spirit.  Anything less than perfect is incomplete, and so there is room to learn more.

Humility is very important to healing, for as long as we think we know it all we are doomed.  Our mind shuts, and nothing else can get in due to the arrogance of this type of thought.  Humility is realizing there is always more we can learn, because the truth is that as long as we aren't living perfect lives of wisdom, grace, health, prosperity and most of all love, then there is still more we can learn!  We are created to be perfect!  Part of that perfection is being willing to learn. It's kind of a safety catch for free-will.  We can always turn around and go the other way when we realize we're on the wrong path.  Then grace kicks in and we're fine, back on the path of becoming who we're intended to be.  (I imagine we would be quite funny to watch!)

To think that we're in better control of our life than to make the mistakes that anyone else seems to be making is folly, for we all have our mistakes that we make, or else no one would ever die and not rise from the tomb!  It's within our Power, so the one with no mistakes can cast the first stone, but everyone misses the mark, be it taking a prescription drug with side effects, smoking cigarettes, coveting our neighbor's job, car or wife, or whether it's eating junk food, participating in animal cruelty, speaking harshly to someone having a very bad day, gossipping or telling wee little lies that we think won't hurt.  We all have our imperfections, so just be aware of your own and work really hard to rise above them each day!!  Forgive yourself and forgive others, too.  It's a new day every day.

So rise up...as many times as it takes.  Pull yourself up with your faith and don't give up on believing.  It's when a person stops trying that they die to the spirit, and the mind and body will follow, as well.  Rise up against that which would mask your Divinity and shake your fist at all doubt!  Rise up in faith, love, strength, wisdom, integrity and TRUTH!  You are created in the image and likeness of GOD!!!

Have a really great week!
"Vibraceous, ND"

Actually this is two weeks worth of Easter messages...I thought I lost the first one I wrote and so I wrote this one.  Then I found the first one so here they both are!  There's no point in saving it until next week, because by then Easter will be over and done.  Or will it?  Perhaps we really should live Easter each day of our life!  Here is the first Easter message I wrote for Easter week.  I think I'll take next week off!  We're getting ready for the Essentials of Life Holistic Enrichment Center Dedication Celebration & Barn Party Weekend on April 26-28.  If you're anywhere near Hartville, Ohio, please RSVP and join us for this special time!  www.facebook.com/eolhec/events.  And now for the other message for Easter week:

Holistic Easter Message for All -

When contemplating the meaning of Easter, I realize there are many meanings, depending upon one’s point of view.  Historically it is the recounting of Jesus’ death and resurrection.  Others say it is the celebration of the coming of spring, and still others think it’s simply another day in the calendar year.  Well, considering all the differing points of view, and there are many more I have not mentioned here, then I would say Easter is all of this things, for whatever it is in the minds of others, it is.

Just another day?  Yes!  Easter happens every day, as does Spring!  Easter is a state of mind, no matter what else it is.  Even looking at the story of Jesus, we have to realize that it’s happening now.  We are connected to the story through our thoughts and our feelings, though none of us were actually there.  The only moment in time any of us has is right now.

Easter happens every day in our heart, if we rise above difficulties or states of mind that are killing our spirit and holding us back from the good that is life, receiving back in kind, that which we give to the world.  What is ours to give?  Only love.   Everything else is given to us, whether we choose to use it wisely or not.  Love is the one thing we came into this world prepared to give back.  We are made of pure Love.  Have you ever seen a baby that’s not?  We are all created in the image and likeness of God, and God is Love.

So when we give love, we share in the meaning of Easter, because we are sharing the essence of God, as demonstrated by Jesus.   Jesus was able to rise above death due to his ability to love to the greatest extent.  That is the example we’re taught.  Jesus loved those who were shunned by society, i.e., the poor, the outcast, the sick.  He also forgave those who persecuted and killed him.  At Easter we are reminded to live our life in this same kind of Love, nurturing and forgiving equally, not judging but just being an expression of Love…of God.

How does this relate to the coming of Spring?  New life out of that which was apparently dead is one obvious message, of course.  Year after year after year the story of Spring is retold in the flowers that pop up from the snow!  New life springs up throughout all of nature at this time of year, with so many new baby bunnies, chickies and lambs.  The egg is the symbol of new life, and beautiful colors appear throughout the natural and celebratory world.

Do the two stories relate?  I think they do!  For just as Jesus rose up against death, so does spring.  New life after seemingly all hope was gone.  Again, Easter can occur every day that we rise above that which is killing us in spirit, body and mind.

What does that mean?  We know that we can feel as if we are dying in spirit.  This is when we lose our luster, lose our connection with others, lose our natural sense of compassion, when we no longer feel like smiling or laughing or even getting up half the time.  We lose our spirit when we walk through life like zombies, not really knowing who we are or what we have come here to do.  We lose our spirit when we hate each other and kill.  We lose our spirit when we forget we are living expressions of God, as is all of life.  We lose our spirit when we can’t forgive, and we lose our spirit when we no longer believe there is hope.  It’s a horrible, terrible, frightening, mind-torturing/numbing state to be in.  What can save us from all of that?  One simple word…and it’s Love.  Love for ourselves, for each other, and for God…for Love itself…for Life.  God is Good.  God is Love.  God is Life.

And on a physical level, we also need to rise above that which is killing us.  God provided us with a planet to live on, perfectly capable of supporting our life here on Earth.  We need to live in gratitude and wisdom here on this physical plane, respecting the laws of nature as being designed by an Intelligence and Power much greater than us.  If we are to believe God is Love, then we must know it is true that all of nature is created as Good.  Rise above our temptation to contradict nature’s laws, but rather live in accordance and rise above death, for the wages of sin is death.  What is sin?  Sin is anything which comes in our mind (and particularly when translated into action) that separates us from our Source, which is Love, and which on the physical plane includes nature’s laws.

Mentally, we are called to rise above the prevailing ideas of the time and remember that Love is the ruler of all, and that the laws of nature also are to be obeyed.  Honor thy Mother and Father, so to speak.  Mentally we are called to know only Good (God) and not partake of the knowledge of evil, or ways contrary to the goodness of God.  So when we fall into thinking patterns of lack, envy, greed, doubt, or arrogance and the idea that we can do one better than God and the natural order of things regarding the laws of nature and life, then we have problems which bring about death in one way or another.  All was created as Good.  To realize this and live accordingly is the proper use of free will, thereby expressing love for ourselves, each other and God expressed as all of Life.  Rise above the temptation to fall in with lesser ideas and inferior ways and Life will prevail.

You see, we are three beings created as one…spiritual, mental, physical.  Spiritually speaking, all we need is Love.  Physically we need to sustain and nurture our bodies through the natural world.  Mentally is where free-will occurs.  To align our will with the will of God is the true secret to overcoming the adversity of death.  We are three beings in one, being spirit, body and mind, and what is expressed in one realm of being is likewise present in the other realms.  Spirit is ruler as Love is the strongest Power there is.  Jesus overcame physical death through the Power of Love.  Physical is also very important, as even Jesus did as for something to quench is own thirst, but it was through Love that he was saved in the end.  The mind comes into play with holding fast to our intent and directing our actions according to which way we want to go.  Go in the direction of Life and Love!

Happy Easter to all, no matter your outlook on the traditional stories.  The thing to remember is Love, as Love is ultimately all that there is!

Discipline means to train.  Jesus demonstrated this in his training of the Disciples.  We can correlate this to training our own inner faculties to serve us.  Metaphysically speaking, the Disciples of Jesus represent the spiritual powers inherent in each of us, namely faith, strength, love, wisdom, power, imagination, understanding, will, order, zeal, renunciation and life.  Charles Fillmore wrote extensively on this idea in his book, "The Twelve Powers of Man."

To progress spiritually does take much discipline, for it is so easy to fall in with the easy ways of the world which give the instant gratification the undisciplined self tends to crave.  Faith, for instance, takes discipline and diligent supervision so that we not fall into the negative thinking that is so commonplace.  If we are to manifest our good, however, we must keep our eye single and believe that good will prevail.

Strength requires much discipline to remain active.  This is obviously true of physical strength.  Use it or lose it, they say!  This is also true of spiritual strength.  We need to practice standing strong in our spiritual selves on a daily basis if we are to have strength during difficult times.

Love, too, takes discipline.  We may think it does not, and in many ways, yes, love is free and has a mind of its own which cannot always be easily tamed.  But do we stray in our actions from love?  Do we stray in our thoughts?  Do we always act lovingly...to all people...to all creatures...to all of life?  In all situations?  Love requires training to demonstrate it to the level of perfection that Jesus did, or for that matter any truly great spiritual master, like Buddha and many more.  Are we able to love our enemies?  It takes much discipline to learn to do this, but spiritual mastery requires it of us.  Is there anything more important than this?  Ask yourself today if there is not some way you can show more love than you currently are...to others, to yourself and to all of life.  God is Love.

Wisdom takes much training to learn to recognize when the ways of the world tell us differently from what is the Truth.  We must learn to enter into the silence and listen to the wee small voice within.  "Be still and know I am God."  We not only need to recognize Wisdom's answers for us, but we need to discipline ourselves to put these answers to work.  Knowing what to do and when to do it, and then to actually DO it, is wisdom.  (It is also knowing what NOT to do, and then DON'T!)

We were created in the image and likeness of God, and as such we have great spiritual power available to us to use in creating our world.  In the Lord's Prayer, Jesus teaches us to pray to not be led into temptation.  It is the temptation to use this power in wrong and selfish ways to which is being referred.  In order for our power to be used for good, it must be directed in ways which are good.  THINE is the kingdom and the POWER and glory.  Remember this and our power will serve us for good.  We have the power of thought, the power of word, the power of action...Discipline yourself to use this power for only good, and you will manifest only good in your life.  It is tempting to use it for selfish purposes, but remember you reap what you sew and it will manifest in your life as something other than what you desire.  You get back what you give, don't forget.  It is also important to remember the power of our words, and to discipline ourselves to only speak words which serve us well.  Word is what brings forth that which is imagined into the perceivable world.

Imagination is such a fun power!  It, too, however, requires discipline, for the undisciplined imagination will imagine all sorts of horrible things!  Imagine a world made of love.  Imagine your body functioning just as it was designed.  Imagine peace.  Imagine all of your needs are fulfilled.  Imaginationn couple with faith is a good pairing.  What you hold diligently in mind will become your reality.  Hold images in mind which bring peace and harmony to your mind, body and soul.  To hold negative thoughts in your mind or to imagine less than positive outcomes is to practice the misuse of this power, and will bring forth results which are less than you'd hope for.  Train your mind to use positive imagery as a tool to create what you want to manifest, much as the draftsman makes blueprints up for the builders to follow in building a structure.  The blueprint for your life is in your mind!  Train it to draw the pictures you want to make real.  This is in part what guided imagery is all about.  We'll talk about that more on some other day, but know that when you visualize what you want in your mind you help bring it about.

Understanding requires discipline, too, for it is easy to think we already have the answers, that we know better than somebody else, that we already do understand.  This is a position of ego when we catch ourselves thinking these things, for there is ALWAYS more that we need to know.  Understanding involves many things, such as compassion, empathy, open-mindedness, humility, wisdom...do we really understand as much as we think?  Me thinks perhaps we thinks too much!  Understanding is as much if not more about feeling than thinking.  Understanding takes the discipline to admit we don't know it all and the willingness to learn more than we already know.  Understanding is often the lesson that's dealt us when we find ourselves judging another and then ending up in the same exact place as them.  Understanding should always be coupled with love, wisdom and faith that there's more to see than we always see.  Understanding comes as we discipline ourselves to these things.  Open our eyes so that we can see the whole Truth, and our hearts so we can feel, Love, and maybe then we'll understand.

I think we all can recognize the role of discipline when it comes to will power!  Our will is a gift which surely needs to be trained!  We were given the gift of free will in the beginning, and that's when all our troubles began.  But that also means we have a choice to choose all that is good, according to what is wise, loving and in the best interest of all.  That is the proper use of our will.  When self-will runs riot there's hell to pay!  But to discipline our power of will to conform to the will of God...the will of Life...the will of Love...the will of Goodness...then Life, Love and Goodness will rule Supreme in our life!  Our own will is often weak, but train it and back it up with some of your other faculties, like power, strength, wisdom, zeal,, etc...take your pick...and it will become stronger in you.  Will power alone isn't so strong, but it is the one power often missing when having a difficult time in bringing forth your other God-given powers.  You have to be willing in order for much of anything to be accomplished for good in your life!  The will to live is often the determining factor at the end of a person's existence on earth, that's how strong of a power it is!  They say you have to want to get well to get well, where this is where the power of will is involved.  Look at what it is that you truly want in your life, and then train your power of will to never give up!

Discipline is surely required to bring forth the full power of Divine Order at our disposal for good.  Oh, order will occur, with us or without us, for the world will keep spinning around and the laws of nature and God will remain intact, BUT...would we like our lives to reflect a sense of order and peace, or the chaos required for nature to rebalance itself after a nuclear bomb?  That may seem like a far out example, but think for a moment.  Nature will always prevail, but many lives can be lost and damage done along the way.  Do we want to be a casualty?  In the same way do we want our hopes and dreams to be a casualty on the battlefield of our life?  Then we have to stop setting off bombs!  "Divine Order is now established in my mind, body and affairs," is a good affirmation to keep this idea at the front of our mind, thereby training our other faculties to bring it about!  Order will naturally occur no matter what.  Nature re-balances always.  Divine Order naturally occurs when we align our other faculties to bring forth the fruits of a life lived with the spiritual discipline required to achieve the results which are in the best interest of all.

ZEAL!  (That's enthusiasm for those of you who weren't sure!)  Zeal is what gives the "umph!" to "triumph!"  To get excited about living, about loving, about doing good in our lives and the lives of others...to get excited about projects we're working on or healing goals we wish to accomplish or a new job or anything else gives it that extra BOOST of energy we need to get over the humps!  (Hmmm...."umph" is "hump" with the letters mixed up!  Ha ha!  Better switch them around!)  If you don't feel very enthusiastic to start with, but instead are meeting a challenge with dread, then this is where the discipline part of the training comes in.  You might have to fake it till you make it until it kicks in.  Don't wait till you feel happy to smile, for instance, and just smile until it feels good.  Laughing works even quicker.  The muscles in your face actually stimulate parts of the brain that bring happiness on!  So pretend you're enthused about an avenue you've decided to pursue until you actually feel it, or perhaps you've chosen the wrong path to take.  Then back up to the power of wisdom again, and ask yourself if this is truly what it is you desire.  If it is, then kick your power to achieve it into action by becoming enthused, some how, some way.  To not do so is like giving up.  Passion is half the winning in just about any goal you could ever possibly set!  Become empassioned about what you desire and power yourself up with ZEAL!

Renunciation is another one of those words we don't often hear much these days, but it involves the power of elimination, and abandoning old ideas, points of view, attitudes, habits, behaviours, etc., which no longer serve our ultimate good and the good of the world.  Renunciation is that power which allows us to let go and let God!  In the physical body, renunciation is represented by the colon, enabling us to eliminate poisons and excess waste.  There is a spiritual correlate for this function, and it is symbolized by the spiritual faculty of renunciation.  To discipline this power is as important as not letting your colon clog up with things which will not easily pass, especially when coupled with stress.  Spiritually speaking we would likewise do will with not feeding junk to ourselves and then stressing, or holding onto outdated ideas.  In the spiritual world as in the physical, this will poison us if we don't learn to let go of that which no longer serves.  Relax and just let it go!  Relaxation is much of the key.  Look to the powers of faith, a higher understanding, and will.  If you need inner strength, lean on that power as well, it is yours.  Let go and let God handle the rest.  Let go and let Love.  Let go and let Wisdom.  Let go and just let it be.  Holding on can become a habit.  Discipline your mind to let go.

Life!!!  LIFE!!!  Train yourself to love life!  Train yourself to live fully in this moment, appreciating life in all forms and being grateful, for it is yours!  This is your life and contained within it is all the power you need to survive!  We have been given the gift of life, and it is ours from the moment we are conceived until the moment we die, and then even beyond in a spiritual sense, for life is forever, we know.  But to express life in its fullest potential takes discipline every step of the way.  Life is created as perfect, as is God, for God is Life, and we are created in the perfect image and likeness of God.  But to manifest this perfection takes much discipline and training on the physical, mental and spiritual levels.  We would do well to make this our fervent study and practice, which is why we are gathered here.  To live life fully all of the faculties must be in good working order, or else our life is incomplete.  Use the Power of Life to bring about GOOD!  Live a life centered in love, filled with faith, powered with strength, guided by wisdom, and on down the line to zeal, and renunciation...Discipline yourself and you'll live the life of your dreams!  This is truly heaven on earth!  Train yourself to recognize and live accordingly to the laws of nature, as these govern physical life.  Learn to love all of life, for love is what governs our spiritual life.  Mentally, discipline yourself to envision life as being perfect, and train yourself to hold true to this vision, but still remain open-minded enough for understanding to blossom and reign.  Give your life over to God.  This means to give it over to Love and to practice that which nourishes and sustains Life itself.  Why do we practice that which brings death?  Because we are undisciplined, lazy and behaving very unwisely!  Discipline is needed if we are to live lives with sustenance, true meaning and grace.  Just as surely as a plant will grow in the proper conditions, so too will we thrive if we focus on providing the best conditoins for us to live healthy lives.  Sitting on the computer all day and eating junk food will not get us where we want to be!  (Running to the doctor is not enough exercise for us to live healthy lives!)  Train yourself in the ways of life, as surely as if you're training for a marathon race!

So there you have it, the 12 Powers of Man in a nutshell right off the top of my head, but if you want to learn more in depth, read the book.  I read it a long time ago and I still hold it in my mind as a guidepost for living today, and for helping me to understand the message of the Bible on a deeper level.

The idea I wanted to bring forth in this particular writing is the idea of discipline, and how it is meant to be so much a part of our every day life.  We are students of life, and being a student requires the discipline of study and also of demonstration.  Too often the word "discipline" is confused with "punishment."  Well to this I remind you that, "Vengence is mine, sayeth the Lord," and surely this is not what we are to be focusing on.  Discipline in the sense of teaching is a much more positive idea, and afterall, isn't that what punishment is designed to do?  Well, maybe not, considering the death penalty, and all.  But in holistic healing we believe that rehabilitation of the mind, body and spirit are always possible and this is the task at hand.  So discipline yourself to be well!

There is no head master but you!  You are the one writing your own curriculum.  Oh, sure, there are government or whatever other kinds of authorities we have to honor in society, but all in all, you are writing your own training program, whether you know it or not.  Are you training yourself to be healthy and well?  To live a life of happiness, satisfaction and success?  How much of your efforts are directed at that?  Think about the commercials on TV...what are they teaching you?  Discipline yourself and turn them off!  Be in control of your own mind and watch what you allow in!  Other influences you may want to look at are the influences of negative people in your life, or the influences of your own negative thoughts!  It does no good to go to a doctor...not even a natural doctor...if you are not going to train yourself to take part in the activities and state of mind required to be well.  You have to work on it at a spiritual level, as well.  Discipline yourself...no one else can do it for you...they can teach you or they can punish you, but ultimately the responsibility for learning remains with you, as do the consequences of such.

Do you really think Jesus spanked the disciples?  Ha ha!  Learn to look at discipline in a new way!  You are the one getting the graduation party when you are done, so have a good time in school!  Don't drop out, don't give up, don't skip class, and do your homework to get the straight A's!  Flunking means living a miserable life, and no amount of signed excuses will get you past that.  If you don't study, you're not going to learn.  Discipline yourself and quit depending on outside authorities to tell you what you should do.  That's just a set up for blame, and again, let me repeat, excuses will do you no good.  You're the head master, remember, so handing yourself a forged excuse is like signing your mother's name in front of yourself!  It's simply not going to work.  If you want to progress, you have to do your own spiritual, mental and physical work in the training program we know as life!

Take your power back.  You were created in the image of GOD!"Vibraceous, ND"

Have a great week!  This week is Palm Sunday in the Christian faith.  For an interfaith interpretation of how Palm Sunday relates to all faiths, please see our entry last year entitled, "Humility and Peace Victorious."  Have a very blessed holy week!  (Of course ALL weeks are Holy when you're living a life of LOVE!)

ALL healing is energy healing!  If it is not, then there wasn't a complete healing, because energy is what transports the life force, on all levels, as always.  Energy transports the life force in our physical body, enabling us to move and perform tasks.   On a mental level, it takes energy to even think.  (Ever try to think well when you're really tired?)  On a spiritual level, energy is the link between us and God, for God IS the Life Force, leaving much to be said on ALL levels.  Energy is what connects us to LIFE.

Let's start with the physical.  We derive most of our energy from food.  Food (meaning plants) derives its energy primarily through the sun.  We, too, derive energy direct from the sun.  (Maybe this is why ancient cultures worshiped the sun?  I don't know...)

So, energy from food.  So, then, shouldn't our food contain energy?  In order to contain energy, it must still be active and living, wouldn't you think?  I think it should, and in that case, I believe that food should be eaten raw.  Cooking food destroys enzymes, which are the catalyst for all metabolic reactions necessary in sustaining life--ours or the plant's.  Vitamins are also destroyed in the cooking process, which carry the life force, or vital energy (thus the name vit-a-min, with the min standing for minerals).

To make this more simple, just remember that Life begets Life.  You can't get something alive out of that which is dead.  If there is no life in our food, how do we expect it to give life to us?  Oh, sure, we can pick up some minerals from it, and fiber, and possibly a few other things, but we're not going to receive the vital energy that the food originally was designed to provide!  It will actually cause us to become more sluggish, due to the burden of digesting that which is inactive in the digestive process.  It puts a terrible strain on the body and depletes our own enzymes which are finite in nature and needed for our own body to continue on and survive.  So in essence, we are shortening our lives by not making good use of the enzymes God provided in food which is eaten raw.  Energy is needed to live.

Look at a canned green bean, or peach, or pea, or anything else, as compared to fresh.  Is there any comparison at all to be made?  Which do you want to depend on to fortify your body with energy and strength?

Everything living is vibrating and different frequency levels.  Where there is death, there is no frequency level left, except in the parasitic action of the body, such as bacteria and other micro-organisms.  Optimally, food should increase our frequency level.  This can be equated with energy.  Foods of vibrant color are best, for various colors vibrate at various rates, just as sound is also vibrating at different frequencies.  All of these things can be used to enhance our own vibrational level, thereby increasing our energy level or experience of life.

So, foods that are alive with energy to give, vibrant colors all around you, beautiful harmonious music and natural aromas all emit very beneficial frequency waves to help increase our own energy level.  Synthetic fragrances, discord in music, drab lifeless colors and de-vitalized food will drag our energy down and create nothing but problems with health.  We would also do well to bask more in the sun.  Not to the point of a burn or over-exposure, but the sun is obviously a great energy source.

Mental energy is closely aligned with physical energy, because the brain is a physical organ.  It does well to feed our brains food packed with nutrition to help it function its best!  Walnuts, for example, are very good for the brain, as are many, many good raw foods we can eat.

But mentally we tend to get over-tired sometimes through over-thinking our problems.  Give them over to the Energy Source! Give them to God and then let them go.  Do what you can, but don't strain your brain.  Relax, and the answers will better come.

Mentally, too, it is important to surround ourselves with people who energize us rather than drain us.  If we lack positive companionship, that is something we need to put on the top of our list for putting some energy back into our life!  People who are caught up in negativity and refuse to look at solutions are not the kind of people who can help lift you up.  Limit your exposure to people who constantly are bringing you down.

And don't forget to watch your own thoughts!  Negative thoughts, negative words, negativity in any way is just that...negative.  Negativity will drain energy.  It's as simple as that.

We are electro-magnetic in nature.  This goes back to the physical, but it is also connected to the mental realm.  In holistic healing you will start to see that everything is connected!  When there is a condition on one plane, there is a correlate on the other two.  Body, mind and spirit, of course, are the three aspects of being to which I refer.  In reference to electro-magnetism, we might think of ourselves as magnets.  In today's world of electronics and hardly ever walking barefoot or actually communing with nature, it is likely your polarity might be a little bit off.  That's where polarity balancing as a healing method comes in.  This will align your energy flow.

When we start getting into things we can't see, we're getting into the spiritual realm.  With the idea of God as the Life Force, then let's talk about this in terms of "getting more God in your life!"  Never quite thought of it that way, but this is really what we are talking about.  God IS Life.  God is Good.  God is Love.  So if we spend more of our time seeking the Goodness in life and expressing this back in return, we energize ourselves, particularly when Love is at the heart of it all.  Love will undeniably increase your energy flow!  Prayer will also increase your energy flow, when realizing your oneness with God, relaxing the body and mind and letting go.

There are many energy techniques in holistic healing practices which can be used.  Polarity therapy as mentioned above is one, as is dietary practices, prayer, color therapy, aromatherapy, sound healing and more.  Acupuncture, acupressure, reflexology, chiropractic adjustments, Light Touch, Jin Shin Jyutsu, Reiki and even Yoga all act to remove energy blocks.  All illness stems from energy blocks.  When we are tired, something is blocking us, because we are meant to be filled with life.  When we are sick, the same thing.  Life should freely flow through our body, just as good thoughts should flow through our mind and Love through our heart.

Drug medicine is lifeless.  It has no power to restore, rebalance or remove blocks to our life-force.  Life begets life begets life.  Herbs are much more effective because they carry the life-force.  Drugs cannot do this.  Drugs rely on the intelligence of science and they work to force the body into compliance, whereas natural methods rely on the Intelligence of God and work to support the body so it may do what it was Designed in the first place to do.

God is our energy.  All healing comes from God.  God is not man-made, nor should our medicines be if we expect for them to have the power to energize and convey the life-force to us.  Plants vibrate at exactly the proper rates to coincide with the vibrational patterns of everything in us.  That's why they know where to go in the body to heal.  There is an Intelligence implanted within all of Life which cannot be replicated.  There is not a scientific laboratory in the whole world that can come up with a drug that has the Intelligence of God programmed right into it.

We need to think about some of these things, because the whole world is deficient, it seems.  As a society, we're not living in accordance with nature and God.  We better start heading back to the Garden where all was created as GOOD!  There was no lack of energy there.  GO OUTSIDE!  Smell the flowers.  Take a walk in the woods.  Give thanks, for God is your strength and your hope.  Plug into your Power Source!

Have a fun-filled energetic week full of wonder and LIFE!

Movement is a natural part of life.  Everything moves that's alive!  The earth moves around the sun, the animals move around on the earth, the vegetation moves towards the sky as it grows, the ocean tides move towards the shore and back to the sea, and fluids move around in our body.  To stay in one place is to die.

A sedentary lifestyle has been shown to cause all sorts of health problems.  We are not meant to sit still all day!  Our muscles, our body fluids, our posture, our level of comfort, our flexibility, our strength, the function of our internal organs...all depend upon how we move.

Illnesses we commonly believe are only handled through surgery and drugs can be improved or eliminated through movement, particularly if other natural conditions are present and active in us, such as a natural diet, adequate water, reduced chemical exposure, a positive attitude, etc.  All natural measures work best in combination.  Rest, too, is important, and should be balanced with movement, as it is seen in nature.

Walk, run, stretch, dance, ride a bicycle...all ways to keep active and moving!  Do as much of these as you can!  (Again, balanced with rest...important to keep in mind!)  Walk up the stairs and skip the elevator.  (Even walking down is a good thing if walking up is to much for right now.)  Always do a little more than you think you can do.  Just a little.  Don't tire yourself out,  but stretch yourself a bit more every day.

Stretches are very important.  Stretch every part of your body.  Put your hands in the air and stretch your fingers up to the sky!  Stretch downwards, then, too.  Always stretch slowly in opposite directions.  Smooth, slow, deep stretches.  Nothing you do should hurt.  Just move your body in every direction that it can go.  It might hurt a little, and that's okay, but if there is actual pain, then back off and move in a way with no pain.  Stretch slowly, and in awhile see if you can do more.

Side to side movements produce serotonin in the brain.  Pumping the calves up and down gets the lymphatic system moving.  Every movement is good for something.  Feel your movements give you an internal massage!

Just as movement within the body is very important, it is important to move also in your point of view.  Stretch your mind.  Grow into new ideas and ways of thinking.  Move from the position you're in, to a new position of where you want to be.  Move in the direction of health, goodness and love!

It is so easy to get stuck in our own way of thinking.  Without even realizing it, we find that we sometimes live in the apst, with an outdated view of the world.  Let go and move on.  Move on to new attitudes and new experiences.  Move on to forgiveness.  Move on to peace.

Movement is likened to change in this way.  Without change, there can be no healing or growth.  Change can be difficult, just as movement sometimes feels hard on our body and bones.  Sometimes we just want to sit in the chair and not do anything.  And sometimes that is okay, but if you're living your life in a chair and wondering why everything hurts, it's time to get up and MOVE!

Same thing with changing your mind.  If you can't figure out why nothing goes the way that you think it should, maybe you need to take a look at your oint of view.  You might need to move into a new position of thought, or take ACTION, which is movement, again.  Movement is important in all aspects of life.

They say, "No pain, no gain."  Sometimes it does hurt to change the way you think, the way you live, and it might even actually be painful to physically walk.  But if you stretch yourself a little more every day, the level of pain will decrease.  Sometimes it will decrease rapidly, and sometimes slowly.  Sometimes the level of pain stays the same, but the function may be what improves. The important thing is which direction you're moving in.

Change is inevitable, and so is movement.  You may think you're sitting still, but if you are not moving towards living a fuller life, you are indeed moving towards death.

Life is proactive!  It's interactive!  It's ACTIVE!  Take part!

Move a little if you don't think you can move a lot.  Put on music.  It helps!  Hum a tune, tap a toe...make it happy if it is happy that you want to feel!  Sway your hips.  Twirl around!  Do a little bit of the twist.  Change your brain chemistry, pump your lymphatics, and get some air into your lungs!  Your bowels will move better, your back will feel better, and you'll have a new state of mind.

Move out of old habits.  Is your life reflecting your inner desires?  If not, then take a look at where you are, and do something different.  If you don't change, nothing changes.  Movement is required.  This is something YOU have to do.

Desire peace?  Move your thoughts to a position of peace.  Think peace, not blame.  Act peace, not taking part in exploitation, aggression or hostility of any kind.  Move to that place of peace in your soul, through meditation.  Move your body into a position of peace with itself, by exercising it with peaceful movement and stretches.  All things work together for good.

With peace, comes health.  Peace of mind, peace of body, and a peaceful spirit.  Move into a position of peace.  Move into a position of wellness.  MOVE.  If you are not well, then you need to MOVE into a wellness state.  Move from where you are to where you want to be...one step at a time...in the direction of peace, love and harmony in body, mind and spirit.  Move like you're trying to reach a goal!  You will reach it if you just keep moving ahead.

Blessings,

Please allow the song above to play as you begin to read.  I find it adds to the meaning of the words I am writing to you.  The hills ARE alive with the sound of music, just as the song tells us they are.  The birds, the rustling of leaves in the wind, the sound of raindrops, frogs, beetles, coyotes, and a myriad of creatures and elements singing together in harmony all through the night and the day.  If you're real still, you can even hear the snow when it falls!

In the beginning, there was light, and there also was sound.  All sound was natural then.  There was not the sound of automobiles, airplanes, telephones and computers back then.  The sounds of nature are very soothing and healing.  Even the sounds which are not so lovely to hear give us information that could be vital to us.  Synthetic sound has created what we call NOISE.  There is a difference between noise and healing sound.  Healing sound resonates with the perfect vibration of life and conveys this vibration to us.  Noise, on the other hand, can oftentimes bring about confusion and disarray.

We can benefit much from listening to the beautiful sounds of nature in harmony, and also, yes of music instruments played in proper accord.  Harmony is wonderful in music for bringing about a sense of harmony in the mind, body and spirit, as well.  It is the vibration which relates to our inner being and brings us together asz one.  There is a vibration in all of life, and our body will naturally respond.  The vibration of music is very noticeable, and so too are sound healing results!

Not only are your ears eprfectly adapted to picking up sound and carrying the vibrations throughout your entire body, but you are also perfectly equipped with your own voice to sing your own healing song!  Actually, your whole body is an orchestra of sounds.  If you listen closely when you enter the silence, you can hear your own heart and other bodily functions as they occur.  Have you ever wondered why your body makes audible sounds?  It has to do with the vibration and the effect these vibrations have for your healing good.  Our whole body vibrates with life!

Most notably, we are equipped with the power of voice.  Our words bring thoughts into the recognizable world where our ideas can take form.  Our words define our abstract ideas and visualizations.  In a sense, our words make our ideas what they are.  We even think in the form of words, creating a certain vibration within our own minds.  Yes, a vibration...follow this idea a moment with me...

Our voices, internal as well as external, are capable of inflection, and this inflection, in turn, becomes song.  Meanings are conveyed through inflections of voice, just as feelings are evoked with the various notes of a song.

There are so many ways that sound can be used in healing.  We can use recorded music, our own voices, musical instruments, singing bowls, tuning forks, or simply sitting quietly and listening to nature.  It's a very beneficial and delightful way to call forth the healing spirit!  Allow yourself to have fun with this!

You may think you can't sing.  Can you breathe?  Then you can sing!  It might not be stage quality singing, but that's not what we're all called to do!  What we are called to do is to sing our own healing song, so start with any note you can hum!

Humming is a very good way to feel the vibrations of music.  See how low you can go.  Hold it there, go up a little, back down and then a little bit further until you think you can't go any lower than that.  Then repeat and see if you can go lower still.  In the end you'll end up with a very low sort of growling sound.  Stay on that note for awhile and then bring it gradually up.  Feel the vibrations throughout your body.  Take it higher and higher until you think you can't go any higher.  Hold it, go lower, go higher again and then see if you can go higher still.  Don't strain your voice on this exercise, but see how high your voice really can go with humming, and then take it to a very high, quiet, almost inaudible pitch.  Play with these vibrations a bit!

You can take yourself deeply into a meditative state by using the sound of "Ohmmm."  Go there.  Stay with the sound.  Form the audible sound with your voice and then as you go deeper into meditation take the sound internally and express it just with your mind.  Even a few minutes of this every day is so beneficial.  About twenty minutes will do as much good as an entire night of sleep, restoring your body and mind.

Back to the idea of playing with your voice, you can also benefit from sounds other than humming.  Try la-la-la or oh-oh-oh or any kind of sound that feels good.  Go up and down as you did with humming and see how far you can go in both directions.  Play with it.  Become more famiiar with your own voice every day.

I play with my voice all the time.  When I'm alone in the car...in the bathtub...or just around the house cleaning.  In the bathtub I like to put my ears under water and feel the vibrations as I meditate using the sound of "Ohm."  It increases the healing vibration so much to add the element of water into the mix!  Around the house cleaning I add the element of movement to the healing power of sound and this increases the healing power, as well.  In the car, well, that's just plain fun...and fun heals!

Once you become comfortable with the sound of your voice, try adding the power of words.  Words can be so powerful when added to song because as mentioned above, they define ideas.  They also can state intent.  Music can be used in prayer so easily to add power to what we are wishing to bring about in our life or what we are trying to express.

Start with something silly if this is easier for you.  Even with just silly words you are adding the healing power of fun, as mentioned before.  Sing your thoughts out loud to yourself.  Try to make simple rhymes, but if you don't, that is also okay.  EVERYTHING is okay!  We're not trying for stage quality here!!  Just sing.  Sing to be happy!  You don't have to already be happy to sing...singing will take you there!

If you're sad, sing a sad, sad song.  A song so sad it's a little bit silly.  Then sing a song that's a little bit less sad, and then one after that which is almost a little bit happy.  Go on up the list until you get to a real happy song.  Making a list up ahead of time for emergency use is a good idea for this exercise, because when we're sad, oftentimes we don't want to take the effort for this and it's hard enough to get ourselves to agree!  Haha!  True!  It might sound silly, but this is a good idea that really does help, so you might want to give it a try if you're prone to sad times at all.

But otherwise, just sing a silly little happy song and play with your voice.  Then take it the next step and start singing your prayers.  The more comfortable you become with this practice of freeing your voice during prayer, the more beautiful and harmonious you will find they become.  It's as if some sort of wonderful magic occurs and your voice begins to take you to places you didn't realize existed in you before!  It may take time to develop this practice, but the trick is in letting go of anything but the prayers in your heart.  Just be willing to let them come out and guide your voice.  Don't judge!  The more you do this, the more comfortable you will become.  What you will find is that your prayers become more manifest!  This is something the Psalmists of long ago knew!

Song can be used in rejoicing, celebrating, lamenting, motivating, relaxing, expressing all kinds of ideas and emotions...and song can be used in HEALING.  Become familiar with this power to commune with the hills.  The hills are alive...so are you!

Another familiar song from the same film ("The Sound of Music") is "Do Re Me."  It is said that if you sing this song three times in a row it will align your whole being!  What can it hurt?  I believe it is true!  Each note hits different spots in the body according to similar vibration.  Every note has a vibration, as does every color.  (A colorful rainbow throughout your diet is the healthiest kind!)  So just as you would do well to eat all the colors, you would likewise do well to sing every note!  Play with your voice...become familiar with what it can do and then use it for your healing good.  (Next week we'll talk about the healing power of DANCE!!!)

We will be hosting a very special weekend April 26-28, 2013, in Hartville, Ohio, to dedicate our work towards the goal of healing the world.  Much of the weekend will be healing music.  Check out the emerging schedule (all is not posted yet...) and join us if you're in the area.  Everything is being offered on a love offering basis.  You are welcome to come share in our joy!  www.facebook.com/eolhec/events.
