Myrna Gonzalez, a 44-year-old former preschool teacher, strained her back and neck in 2001 while moving furniture from one classroom to another. Although she suffers from knotted shoulder muscles, osteoporosis, headaches and slipped discs, she was initially denied Social Security disability benefits. (The News Journal/BOB HERBERT)

The U.N. Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen takes place in early December and no one knows for sure if world leaders will agree on a climate treaty. Tell Congress to Pass the Cost-of-Living Adjustment for Seniors and Disabled.

For the first time in a generation, Social Security recipients won't be receiving a much-needed cost-of-living adjustment.

In this economy especially, many seniors are struggling to get by and trying to keep up with the rising cost of health care, prescription drugs and utility bills. In times like these, seniors rely on the promise of Social Security.

Only Congress has the power to address this problem.

Tell your members of Congress to act now to ensure seniors and disabled get the relief they deserve.
