To all who treasure community vs. civilization:

The concept of "intentional community"is becoming increasingly attractive to us...some who came from the land and those who hate what the so-called civilized have done to the family and community. In my view, our civilization is destined to fail in its eventual decay, helped along by corporatism and the pursuit of decadence.
As I have discovered, there exist alternatives to the crap we're fed about how we should be as a "civilized" society. It doesn't even require moving to start a commune, though that is an option. All it takes is like-minded people with a common goal to enjoy life as it exists within that group living in proximity to each other to advance the common good. No worrying about what you look like, whether you have the latest goods or products or are skinny or fat...just who you are.
I have become increasingly frustrated with civilization as it's dictated to us and have often thought of accumulating my children, friends and like-minded individuals to exist as a self-sufficient "tribe", trading and networking with those of similar interests. Kind of the way things used to be when we, as a community, came together to help one another to overcome problems, teach and advise the younger family and assist others to carry on the society as a self-actualizing unit. This link is a very basic and powerful article on preserving the heart of humanity.

It speaks to a plethora of things which would benefit cultivating community and humanity.
