Senator Nelson--thank you! Finally I know I'm not the only person bothered by the recent death of this poor little girl. The state charges us to deal with the disposal of tires and batteries yet there are no plans in place for how to deal with an animal brought from and sold to another country whose climate is so similar that as the animal grows and has few predators, is thrown into an ecosystem not at all desined to deal with it. They should not be brought here anymore.

Working with outlet covers is a minor issue but can be beautiful and create job opportunities. http://www.naplesnews.com/news/2009/jan/23/home-faux-filling-work/

An article on neighborhood home repair teams caught my attention in the Real Money issue of Coop (Green pages). Families and neighborhoods who trade time for assistance in their home repairs or investing in other homes! Check out this website on time banking:  http://www.timebanks.org/
Through listservs such as yahoo or google.com, you can send out reminders on work days, ask for equipment you'll need, and collect RSVP's from people who plan to attend. A waiver for injury will of course, be part of the plan and projects that can be completed in a day are recommended. This helps everyone and helps to build community!

You don't need to spend the big bucks on a repair man for that broken frig handle or icemaker part. I've ordered parts, received help and blueprints from this link:

If you know of a woman in need of assistance while undergoing chemotherapy, there is an organization who will set up FREE housekeeping for a while via networking with cleaning companies (screened, etc).

NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. - Family and friends of 23-year-old Danny Beougher will gather tonight at the North Shore Alliance Church to remember the soldier and Iraq veteran who was killed by a suspected drunk driver on Saturday night.

Beougher and his wife, Lauren, were driving from North Carolina to Southwest Florida to visit family for the holidays.

The attorney representing the family says Lauren Beougher will not be attending tonight's viewing or the funeral on Saturday under doctor's orders. She is still recovering from her injuries.

The attorney says a private memorial service will be held once Lauren Beougher is well enough to attend.

There are two ways you can help Lauren Beougher. Two funds have been set up in her name to help as she recovers from the accident and the loss of her husband.

Lauren Beougher Trust
Northern Trust Bank
8060 College Parkway
Fort Myers, FL 33919

A tax deductible donation can be made through the North Shore Alliance Church:
Beougher Fund
330 W. Mariana Avenue
North Fort Myers, FL 33903

The funeral will be held at the North Shore Alliance Church at 9am Saturday.
