Blood Group Types Explained



Blood type is a blood based classification on the presence or absence of inherited antigenic substances on the surface of red blood cells. These antigens may be proteins, carbohydrates, glycoproteins or glycolipids, depending on the system of blood groups, and some of these antigens are present on the surfaces of other types various tissues cells. As we mentioned in main “Blood Transfusion Information” article many historical failures led to this today’s known blood group classification system. Needless to say how much this helped blood transfusion procedure.
