Although they are not the only nation that has stated their intention to violate international treaties concerning whales, several ships of the Japanese whaling fleet are currently trolling the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary. There has been a lot of discussion about the differing tactics of how to deal with violators of these international treaties in the area of whale conservation.
