Stray dogs and cats are being skewered on hooks and dragged behind boats as live shark bait.

The cruel practice takes place on French-controlled Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean.

A six-month-old labrador pup was recently found ALIVE with a huge double hook through its snout
and another through a leg.

The pup was found in a coastal creek and is thought to have somehow freed itself from a fishing line.

But other dogs and kittens have been chomped up and swallowed by sharks.

PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION!

Scholastic Books, the U.S. publisher of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, has announced that the book will be printed on paper that contains a minimum of 30% post-consumer waste fiber. 65% of the paper used will be certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. This is the largest purchase of FSC-certified paper to be used in a single book. The decision followed lobbying by the Rainforest Alliance. Canadian and European publishers have printed the last several Harry Potter books using forest-friendly paper, in accordance with author J.K. Rowling's wishes. It is great news that the U.S. publisher is following suit.

Thank Harry Potter's Publisher for Going Green

Mead (serves 4)

1 gallon water
4 pounds honey
6 whole cloves
2 sticks cinnamon
Peel & freshly squeezed juice of one lemon
1 tsp. active dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water

In large nonreactive pot combine water, honey, cloves, cinnamon, lemon peel and juice. Boil for 30 minutes.

Blend yeast into the 1/4 cup warm water; let stand 5-10 minutes until foaming.

Strain honey mixture into a heavy ceramic jug or earthenware container that will hold it with a little room to spare.
When cooled, add yeast.
Cover the neck of the jug with a balloon and allow to ferment in a cool place until it ceases to bubble and the liquid clears.
(55 degrees F is ideal)
When balloon goes limp it is finished fermenting.
Bottle, cap tightly and store in a cool, dark place.
Mead shouldn't be served for at least a month and longer is better.
However, it should really be served within a year of the time it was made.
It does not improve with really long aging.
