If you have not already, please sign The Woodland Trust's petition to Protect the Gnarled and Wrinkly!  (trees that is!!)

I find it very sad that ancient trees are just being destroyed for no good reason.  Cry

Old trees are special, beautiful and majestic, part of our lives, and should be protected !

Thank You!

Thought you might like to have an Update on the abandoned puppies which were initially found and voluntarily cared for by the wonderful Mr UGO the dog, and for whom our sweet friend Mariangela has been trying to find good homes.

from Mariangela,

...... in case you remember the photos of Ugo and puppies I sent you some days ago. They were temporarily hosted at the municipal shelter in my town. Unfortunately one of the puppies died after vaccination.

Today I brought them home. Now they are here with me, my daughter, other 9 dogs and a cat and we are trying to make them feel at ease. In case they are not adopted by reliable people, they can stay here with us. My heart breaks at the thought of thee poor puppy (a female named Mascherina) that died, but I could at least rescue the other four. Now I can finally have some rest (I do hope so)'....

Isnt that fantastic, Mariangela really is a rescuing angel..now caring for 13 dogs a cat and more!  Bravo, masses of thanks and many blessings to her, and to all those that care for the animals so much!

Carolyn

Dear friends,

here are the photos of Ugo (male, about 2 years old) and 4 puppies (about 3/4 months old).

The puppies were abandoned in a field and Ugo took care of them as if he were their mother... and we don't even know whether he is their father. Now they are at the Municipal shelter of Bisceglie (Apulia, Southern Italy), waiting for an adoption. They are all microchipped, are being treated for parasites and will be vaccinated. Please send these photos and their story to your friends and contacts, so that they can find a home.

Ugo is a very sweet dog: it happens very seldom that an adult male behaves so carefully with little puppies (that are not even his, maybe).

Two of the puppies are white (a male and a female) and two are brown with a sort of little mask on their face (a male and a female).

Those who want to adopt them can contact me

Thank you so much in advance for your  help.

Mariangela

Bred for Looks, Born to Suffer

Born to suffer

Feb 2012

New RSPCA research shows that many people still think pedigree dogs are healthy, quality animals that come from good breeding stock.

In fact, many pedigree dogs are vulnerable to unnecessary disease, disability, pain or behavioural problems. This is because they’re bred primarily for how they look rather than with health, welfare and temperament in mind.

The RSPCA is concerned that people are continuing to buy puppies that are prone to serious health and welfare issues because they are choosing dogs for the way they look - such as the current trend for toy breeds and ‘handbag dogs’ - and aren’t doing enough research before they buy.

If you agree that the health, welfare and temperament of dogs should be prioritised over their looks, please join our campaign now. The first step to protecting pedigree dogs from suffering is adding your name to our petition to change breed standards.
