Eighty-Six years ago, today a beautiful baby girl was born to Charles A. & Rosalie (Wilson) Steen in Caddo, Texas.  Her name is Maxine. She had one brother, Charles, and two half sister's Hillis & Louise.  This is Maxine & brother Charles.  Probably taken back in 1923 or 1924.

MAXINE & NORMAN  1941

Maxine grew up in Texas and graduated High School in Houston.  Where she met and married Norman Boyd.  Maxine worked as a Dental Assistant for a lady dentist, Dr. Mary.  Norman worked as a Boiler Maker in the Shell oil refinery out in Pasadena, Texas.   Maxine & Norman made their home on Peas Street in Houston.  After ten years of marriage they finally got a baby girl.

They named her Patricia, but called her Patti.  Maxine, Norman and Patti lived in Houston for 5 years.  Norman &  Maxine were both very active in The First Southern Baptist Church, Lawndale Baptist Church.  They were very strong Christian people and raised their little girl with love and taught her good moral Christan values.  Maxine & Norman were both Sunday School teachers, and Norman was a Decon and also Song Director.  Most all activities were centered around church and family.  This photo of Norman, Maxine & Patti was taken at Chruch on Valentines Day, 1954.

Maxine & Norman decided to move to Moab, Utah.  Where they lived for about 25 years.  Norman opened a Barber Shop and a Beauty Salon in Moab.  Maxine was active in and became Worthy Grand Matron of the Oder of the Eastern Star of Utah.

Maxine & Norman helped start a Baptist Church in Moab.  For the first little while they lived in Moab, they had met some friends who had moved to Moab and were also Baptists.  So the few of them got together at the home of one family every Sunday to have church.  They were given land from Maxine's brother, Charles Steen to build their church, and money from Maxine's mom, Rosalie to help build the church.

Maxine was involved in school and was also on the Board of Director's for the Welfare of the State of Utah, in Moab.  Maxine was and still to this day, her 86th Birthday, a loving and giving person.  She has always given and helped and ministered to people who needed anything.  She spent many hours making and taking meals to those who were sick or just needed a good meal.  Their home was always open to everyone on Thanksgiving and Christmas.  And anyother day.

Maxine & Norman not only opend their hearts and their home on Holidays and special occations, they opened their home to many who had no place to live.  Some stayed for a few days, some for a few years.  And all were treated like family.

Norman and Maxine were married for over 61 years.  They celebrated their 25th Anniversary with a huge party for anyone and everyone in Moab.  It was a wonderful party with hundreds of people there to clebrate.  Maxine was know for throwing wonderful, fun parties with not one drop of alcohol served!

What a wonderful person, daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend MAXIE BOYD has been for the past 86 years!

So, Today, MOM, I celebrate YOU!   You have been the best Mother any girl could have ever asked for.  Thank you for being there for me.  For teaching me wrong from right, and raising me with your strong moral and Christan values.  Thank you for being my Mom, and not my friend while I was growing up!  Thank you for, as you say, all those spankings that I got growing up!  They worked!  And I am none the worse for wear, but a better person.   I have tried to live my life to make you proud to call me your daughter.   And I am VERY PROUD to call you Mother!   And today you are not only my mother, you are my friend!  Thank you for all your love, laughter, prayers!  And letting me be the first Angel in your collection of over 3,000 Angels you have collected and been given over the years!

May GOD continue to bless you not only today, but always!

Yesterday I celebrated my 39th birthday, again!  Or should I say I celebrated the anniversary of my 39th birthday.

I shuttered when I realized that as my 39th year was coming to an end and I would  turn "FORTY"!,  it was more than I could bear!  I didn't want to be old!  I didn't feel thirty-nine, much less FORTY!  My GOD!  Is that middleaged?  Count down to Senior Citizen!  NO WAY!

So, because my 39th year wasn't so bad, I thought, I'll just stay 39, probably for the rest of my life!  After all age is just a number, a state of mind.  And my mind wanted to make the statement that I am THIRTY -NINE!

One funny thing that did make me think that 40 wouldn't be so bad after all.....I had my kids at the 7-11  a few weeks before the dreaded 40th birthday.  I was paying for our gas and goodies and looked up as I handed the money to the cashier.  There, was a key chain, which seemed to be blinking at me, or winking at me; but it really wasn't doing either of those things.  It was just hanging there for ME to see!

They say, God works in mysterious ways.....I'm sure HE put that keychain there just for me!  I  know HE has a sence of humor, he made me, didn't HE!

Right there, I looked at and read those words......

"I'd Rather Be 40, than PREGNANT!" was written on the keychain.

OH YES!  ME TOO!!!!  Not that I don't love kids, because I do!  I have 5 children of my own!  But I couldn't have any more, because I had to have surgery right after our baby Alex was born.  Or, I probably would be 39 and standing at that 7-11 very pregnant!
I did purchace that precious key chain that day!  But, although I totally agreed with the quote....I still haven't admitted, unless under oath with my hand on a Bible, that I am, well, let's just say, not 39!

Last night my precious husband took me to dinner at Applebee's.  To clebrate the 19th anniversary of my 39th Birthday!
OK!  There!  I said it!  Well, almost!  And there is a Bible near my hand!  But this is it!  I will not admitt this again!    Oh, yeah, you mathmaticions are figuring it out in your head....and some are grabbing their calculaters.   So, now, whoever see's this will know!
But if those of you who are a close to my age....never mind...then you will probably forget this the moment you go onto someone elses blog!

Anyway, I would like to thank my husband, Ron for the cute Beannnie Buddie bears he got for me for my birthday and the wonderful little party at Applebee's!  And the embarrasment they put me thru having all the cute kids come around clapping loudly and singing their cutzie little birthday song, to the top of thier lungs!  And bringing me not one, but two huge sundes in a glass!  One chocolate, and one strawberry.  Because the kids couldn't think which one I would like the best!
Actually it would have been great to have them both in one glass!
And would like to thank Alex and Jen and little Alex for the beautiful Jewelry chest they got me!  It's looking good on my Mom's jewlery cabinet she gave me.  With the Beanie Baby's Ron gave me!
Thank you to my precious sis Lori!  The night shirt, the little village pieces, the angle wind chimes, the pants, and the book..."HOUSE" written by Frank Peretti & Ted Dekker  from her husband, Jimmy!  You are too good to me, Sis!  And I love you so much!
Thank you Sherri, for the beautiful bracelet that you sent to me!  I wear it and treasure it more than if it was made of diamonds!
Thank you, Januari and Zac for the cute photos of my grandkids!  You know how much photos mean to me!  And how much you all mean to me!
Thank you to my daugher, Jennifer who gave me a beautiful picture, mounted and framed of a beautiful Lighthouse!  It hangs above my bed!  I love it!
Thanks to all my kids who sent cards, filled with love and wishes!
And thanks to all of you who sent me comments and birthday wishes, too!
You all mean the world to me!  And I love you so much!

Who knows how many more 39th birthdays I will get to celebrate....so I try and celebrate everyday!  To me, it is a celebration when I am with my kids, and my friends!  A celebration of LIFE!  My Life and their lives!

Can't forget this one special person....Thank you my precious LORD!  Thank you for my Husband, my kids, my parents, my grandkids, and my wonderful friends!

I am,  TOO BLESSED TO BE STRESSED!

GOD BLESS ~

Just a quick note to let you know that I am in Price, Ut.  Most of our family made it up here for my Mom's 85th birthday party!  We had a wonderful time, a BBQ and lots of food, fun, and just hanging around catching up!  Of COURSE, there were pix being snapped everytime someone breathed, so I can't wait to get the pix in albums and get them on here when I get home.
Mom is doing really well for her age and taking one day at a time, just like the rest of us!
Right now I am on my daughters computer and don't have a lot of time to finish checkin my mail.  But I want you all to know that I am just thrilled about the comments that have been left and all my new friends!  Thanks to each and every one of you!
I promise I will write a new blog about my trip and mom's party andthere will be lots of pix to share, too!
We all had a wonderful time!
The pix I put on for this little blog is one of my Mom, me and my husband taken at our family reunion in ST. George, last September.
