"Common pesticides used in homes and lawns are now being shown in medical research to accelerate aging of the immune and nervous system, resulting in serious health problems years after exposure. Research has linked varying degrees of human exposure to chemical pesticides with an increase in miscarriage, birth defects, infertility, Parkinson’s disease, and some types of cancer. Pesticide exposure may play a role in the development of ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease), multiple sclerosis (M, and multiple chemical sensitivity as well.

Studies have found higher rates of cancer in children and dogs living in households that use pesticides in the home and garden.

A human DNA molecule contains over 30,000 genes. Over 4,000 genes remain active at this moment, controlling all aspects of health from the brain to the immune system. When these genes are weakened or damaged by chemical exposures, health problems surface.
Certain herbicides have been shown to be directly toxic to birds (eg. 2,4-D). Agent Orange is an herbicide. Herbicides have been proven to cause cancer, birth defects, endocrine disruption, other chronic effects. Sixty percent of the total pesticide use in the U.S. is used to kill "pest" weeds – more than is used to grow food. Herbicide applications pollute our waterways, marshes, valuable drinking water resources, and the air we breathe."( http://www.chem-tox.com/pesticides)

Am I the only the only one who gets emails waxing poetic about how much better the United States was in days of yore, when the only people whose rights mattered were healthy, white, adult males? I am? Let me add one detail- these emails are supposed ...

I don't watch TV, except when I'm at someone else's house or the laundromat. Lately, every single time I've gone to the laundromat, the Casie Anthony trial has been on, and the place has been abuzz with discussion of the case. I think any single t...

When I was in my early 20’s, there weren’t nearly the on-line resources for CSA survivors that there are today. And I was much, much too ashamed and guilty to tell a word about the abuse to a real, live human being who could possibly make ...

I think most people whose lives have never been affected by child sexual abuse think it is rare. They think it will never happen to their children. They think they don't need to worry about it because they pay their school taxes, they obey the law, a...
