            Remembering Pete Seeger

             https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=658198164221422

             Greetings my friends, relatives, supporters:

I want to comment on a couple of different issues one is on a sad note, that Pete Seeger passed away. When I say sad it is because we will miss the music he gave to the world, and gave to all the people who struggle against the injustices that take place throughout the world and humanity it seemed like he always had a song that would remind us of who we are and what our responsibility was/is to this existence. I for one will miss him, he has been a strong supporter of the cause for justice in my case throughout many, many years.

I will definitely miss Pete Seeger.

Whether he goes to heaven, someplace for a while or reincarnates I have no doubt a personality like his will ever be silenced by a mere passing of lifetime.
Thank you for the lifetime you shared with us Pete Seeger.

In keeping with being thankful, every day I wake up I am thankful for the many people who support Native American causes and the causes of all humanity thought the world.
There is no one person or one group that is totally responsible for probably any one thing as we know it. All life and experience and existence is built upon the foundation of something before it. I am especially grateful, and I would like to say again to Mr. James Anaya and all the people who worked so hard to facilitate his coming to see me. It really means a lot, because I know he represents the thoughts and prayers of Native people all across this country that went to his meetings and have shared their concerns in my case, and when I say ALL across this country, I mean the far North into Canada and the far south into South America. I especially want to thank the International Indian Treaty Council, who worked so hard to help bring this about. I also want to say a special thanks to all of our Sisters in the movement, in saying that I do mean Mothers, Grandmothers, Aunts, and ALL of the courageous women who have worked for so many years and who stand up in their respected communities and are so much an inspiration to the children and to the men.

The women have always been the backbone of any movement throughout the world for they are the givers of life and the ones who have the very first influence on our children.

With that, I will close for now.
Again, thank you Pete Seeger.

May we all be inspired by Pete Seeger and others like him.

Your friend in the struggle
In the spirit of Crazy Horse

Day 45: Free The Arctic 30

The Arctic 30 are facing two months behind bars in Russia for a peaceful protest against dangerous oil drilling.

They took action on September 18 at the giant Prirazlomnaya oil rig, where Gazprom intends to become the first company to pump oil from icy Arctic waters.

Over a day later the ship was illegally boarded by armed special forces, before being towed to Murmansk.

28 activists, as well as a freelance videographer and a freelance photographer, have been refused bail.

Greenpeace International executive director Kumi Naidoo has stated, "The Arctic is melting before our eyes, and these brave activists stand in defiance of those who wish to exploit this unfolding crisis to drill for more oil."

From Russia with love - letters from the Arctic 30

We've received a number of letters now from the Arctic 30. We'd like to share a few highlights from a sample of them. They reveal what life is like for them in Murmansk, and how important your support is to them.

Your support and the knowledge that we have done the right thing keeps me above water. Thank you very much for your kind words, love and care you give to me. You are incredibly important!”

Written by Marco Weber, October 8, in an open letter from a prison in Murmansk, Russia.

Alex Harris

“I heard the Arctic Sunrise mentioned on the radio the other day. It was in Russian so I couldn't understand it, but it's great to know the world is talking about us. On a good day I get to see my lawyer and hear news of protests all over the world. You wouldn't believe the difference the news makes. It really makes me feel better and I thank every single person who has joined a protest or sent an email.”

Written by Alex Harris in mail to her colleagues in Greenpeace Australia on Oct 10.

Tomasz Dziemianczuk

© Dmitri Sharomov / Greenpeace

"I'm grateful for the support of everyone back in Poland; ordinary people, Greenpeace activists, the state, the media. Thanks to this strong interest there is still a chance of our release. Otherwise we'd be sure to spend the next ten years in prison.”

Said by Tomasz Dziemianczuk  on October 21 in court for bail appeal.

David Haussmann

“I can't put it any more simply than thanks. Some of you I know, some I've heard of, some I'll never even meet. Your kind thoughts, support and humour mean a lot to me right now, it is the simple things in life.”

Written by David Haussmann, October 17, in open letter from prison in Murmansk, Russia.

It is now 36 days since the Arctic30 stood up against Arctic destruction for which they remain unjustly held. While they are behind bars facing trumped-up charges, your support is vital. Thank you for sharing the voices of the Arctic30 and showing the world they will not be forgotten.

Millions have voiced their support for the Arctic 30. Add your name today.

Peace Begins with You

http://youtu.be/n2eOK8q2M6w

Prem Rawat's message is simple - Peace is Within. Attainable by any human being.

Your True Nature

“We forget who we are. In this desert, the first person you need to understand is not your friend, not your family member, not your colleague. First you need to understand who you are. The truth, the reality, the beauty, the prosperity, the peace you are looking for — you never lost it. Never. It was always within you.”

http://www.wopg.org/en/  ( website has several languages to choose from )

Exploring the Keys

The Keys Open Learning Program supports individuals who want help to access a personal experience of peace.

Prem Rawat, known as Maharaji to many, offers a way to discover peace within — four practical techniques which enable a person to turn their attention inside in order to experience the feeling that resides there. He calls these techniques Knowledge: the know-how to go within.

What I offer is more than words. I offer the know-how to access the experience of peace and fulfillment within. I call it Knowledge. What Knowledge makes possible is an enjoyment of life that is independent of circumstances. It is a way to connect to the experience of the self that lies within.

Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela (Xhosa pronunciation: [xoˈliːɬaɬa manˈdeːla]; born 18 July 1918) is a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary and politician who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. He was the first black South African to hold the office, and the first elected in a fully representative, multiracial election. His government focused on dismantling the legacy of apartheid through tackling institutionalised racism, poverty and inequality, and fostering racial reconciliation. Politically an African nationalist and democratic socialist, he served as the President of the African National Congress (ANC) from 1991 to 1997. Internationally, Mandela was the Secretary General of the Non-Aligned Movement from 1998 to 1999.

A Xhosa born to the Thembu royal family, Mandela attended Fort Hare University and the University of Witwatersrand, where he studied law. Living in Johannesburg, he became involved in anti-colonial politics, joining the ANC and becoming a founding member of its Youth League. After the Afrikaner nationalists of the National Party came to power in 1948 and began implementing the policy of apartheid, he rose to prominence in the ANC's 1952 Defiance Campaign, was elected President of the Transvaal ANC Branch and oversaw the 1955 Congress of the People. Working as a lawyer, he was repeatedly arrested for seditious activities and, with the ANC leadership, was prosecuted in the Treason Trial from 1956 to 1961 but was found not guilty. Although initially committed to non-violent protest, in association with the South African Communist Party he co-founded the militant Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK) in 1961, leading a bombing campaign against government targets. In 1962 he was arrested, convicted of sabotage and conspiracy to overthrow the government, and sentenced to life imprisonment in the Rivonia Trial.

Mandela served 27 years in prison, first on Robben Island, and later in Pollsmoor Prison and Victor Verster Prison. An international campaign lobbied for his release, which was granted in 1990 amid escalating civil strife. Becoming ANC President, Mandela published his autobiography and led negotiations with President F.W. de Klerk to abolish apartheid and establish multiracial elections in 1994, in which he led the ANC to victory. He was elected President and formed a Government of National Unity in an attempt to defuse ethnic tensions. As President, he established a new constitution and initiated the Truth and Reconciliation Commission to investigate past human rights abuses. Continuing the former government's liberal economic policy, his administration introduced measures to encourage land reform, combat poverty and expand healthcare services. Internationally, he acted as mediator between Libya and the United Kingdom in the Pan Am Flight 103 bombing trial, and oversaw military intervention in Lesotho. He declined to run for a second term, and was succeeded by his deputy Thabo Mbeki, subsequently becoming an elder statesman, focusing on charitable work in combating poverty and HIV/AIDS through the Nelson Mandela Foundation.

Controversial for much of his life, right-wing critics denounced Mandela as a terrorist and communist sympathiser. He nevertheless gained international acclaim for his anti-colonial and anti-apartheid stance, having received over 250 awards, including the 1993 Nobel Peace Prize, the US Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Soviet Order of Lenin. He is held in deep respect within South Africa, where he is often referred to by his Xhosa clan name of Madiba or as Tata meaning Father; he is often described as "the father of the nation".

Dear Dianne Lynn, Margaret, Donna & friends,

Thank you so much for your prayers for my husband Marvin following his heart attack.

Keeping the Faith, praying that our Holy Father would be Gracious and not allow my husband to suffer, and to save his life allowing us to continue to be together has been my focus now more than ever these past few weeks.

Marvin is on medication round the clock to stabilize his heart and seems to be better/stronger more and more each day.

The doctors who performed surgery said Marvin's smaller arteries 'miraculously created their own bypass' which basically saved his life, from their perspective.

I am so thankful, I can't even say without breaking into tears!

God is Merciful. Praise Jesus for giving both of us strength in body, mind and spirit.

And my dear friends, my heartfelt and complete gratitude to each and every precious one for holding us closely in your thoughts & prayers.
